When did I say waving objects? The Wii can point at a screen, you know.

I really don't see why it wouldn't work.
I consider any form of Wii controller a waving object. You wouldn't get enough precision and miss targeting is what you want to avoid at all cost, plus you still need to somehow be able to bind groups of units easily and then select them quickly, preferably with single key press, not to mention the fact that no matter how fast you point at the screen, shortcut keys for building are much faster.

It's more fiddly and less accurate then a mouse, so I'd ask, "why bother"?

I'm taking your comment out of context from whatever discussion you were already having by the way.

I pick Console Good. RTS Good.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as a good console RTS... that genre just can't be taken away from mouse and keyboard.
Wrong... The genre can't be taken far from mouse and keyboard but Good Console RTS's can exist because it is a good CONSOLE RTS. We aren't comparing to PC in which they all get raped by... so yeah say things people asked for ok?

I play Halo Wars and it entertains me as much as Warcraft III did, I'm not saying it was as good but entertainment is all you ask for in such games.

All the Command and Conquer titles? Egad man!
OT: I'm a big fan of C&C Red Alert 3 (Especially when I can find people to play online) And I hear C&C 3 (And Kane's Wrath) are very good also.

I take offense to that Sir! I personally LOVE Red Alert of my Xbox 360. (Although I think I might get the PC version too)

Maybe you shouldn't have:
I was thinking about this, and couldn't the Wii make some pretty good RTSes? It does seem to have the right controls, and would definitely attract the Hardcore market...
Actually, my response makes perfect sense in response to that.

The hardcore will be playing RTS's on a PC, so why would that attract them to a console full of party games?

When will people learn; It's realtime, or strategy. Not both. When you put in the realtime elements, a lot of the strategy goes out the window being replaced with how many actions per minute you can perform.
I've always liked Turn Based Strategy however.
Fire Emblem always will have a place in my heart.
It's funny, because you have no idea of strategy, tactics or specific requirements depending on the genre.

Agreed. When things are 'Real Time' It means you really have to think on your toes. You don't have long amounts of time to think between turns while you are safe. You have to formulate strategy so you can win, whilst forming your own defences against attack.

Why do people who say that there are no good console RTS's ever talk about Pikmin or Pikmin 2?

Seriously, if you have a Gamecube/Wii, go give those a try.

Only one person has mentioned Battle For Middle Earth 2 (which is quite clearly the best console RTS). This is now my least favorite thread ever.

EDIT: Oh wait no, everyone is just calling it "Lord of the Rings" from some reason I'm not aware of.

Supreme Commander 1 (Supreme Commander 2 sucks, I got really disappointed), if you really need it on the console. Otherwise, get it on the PC, along with Starcraft 1.

Go try out the RUSE demo and see if you like it. For me the controls work great.
Lol at the amount of PC elitism on here.

Why buy Halo Wars on the 360?

Ah yes. That's right. Because it's only for the 360.

Making a hardcore RTS could be a great move for Nintendo, and gamers may finally blow the dust off their Wii and play it.

Failing that, why not take advantage of the fact that loads of party gamers and children have a Wii and make a great Rock Raiders [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lego_Rock_Raiders_(video_game)]-esque game (or even a remake) for the Wii?
I thought your point was that it would attract the hardcore to buying a Wii; I very much doubt (m)any hardcore RTS players bought a 360 just for Halo Wars.

It's funny, because if you don't provide any argument or evidence, then you're basically just saying "No, you're wrong, and you smell funny!" (Although I just added that last part to make it more amusing to read)
