Good games with terrible plots.

Or conversly bad games with great plots. What games have you played with great gameplay but a story that makes you want to kill someone or vice versa.

For me the good one has to be FF10, the gameplay was fun as fuck but the story made me want to burn square enix to the ground. Auron and Sin were amazing though.

And the bad one has to be Ninja Gaiden 2, the gameplay was glitchy and broken and cheap as hell, but the story was awesome.

That story was just dumb. I still don't know if I should be thankful that they only had 7 missions of that shit in the game or if I should be pissed at how incredibly repetitive the game became because of it.

When it's a wide known fact that people find side missions to be repetitive, you don't put tons and tons of them in the game while leaving out the story missions.

I'll call up Killzone 2. Great game, shitty allies, no plot beyond the military aspects of the campaign. It had no story, and it felt like a prolonged combat drop.

Nothing is inherently bad with that, but a story might have given you more resolve to push on against the Higs.

to tell you the truth? i liked the ps2 kindgom hearts trilogy (dont give a shit about the rest). nice hacky-slashy-beat-shit-with-a-giant-key gameplay, very solid.

but like everything else japanese...

I'd say Braid had a bad story. It was too full of pseudo-intellectual psycho-babble. The whole thing felt like the designer was trying to sound smart and prove something. The game was pretty cool, but my god did the story suck.

erm, I think thanks to the latest installment, gowIII, the gameplay is as satisfying as anything I've ever played, but it's story just got stupid (though not as bad as fereignheight).
Another game to throw in, but I've never played it, this is pure speculation, heavy rain, it has practically no gameplay elements involved besides QTEs, but the story is meant to be quite compelling

honestly i have played and beaten the game more times than i can remember, but Diablo II, my goodness the only reason why it was so much fun was with rushing and raiding with a group of friends and the mass amount of abbreviations and jokes we had, otherwise the story went right out the window, point click *kill all these* rushhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh till infinite level using a bot
