I recently made the change from consoles to pc for a variety of reasons. Now, I'm trying to find some good games and so here I am.

I already have Diablo 2, Portal, Half life 1 and 2, Oblivion, Torchlight, Hellgate London and a few others, but now that I've mowed through this library I'm looking for more. Furthermore, I've already played a lot of games like the Mass Effect series, Fallout 3, Dragon Age and MW2 (partly the reason for my switch...) etc. etc.

I'm planning on buying Titan Quest this weekend and any other suggestions would be great, preferably RPGs or Shooters, but I'm open to anything.

Crysis, just because.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. imo the best "Realistic" video game ever (realistic game play wise that is).

Sorry, just rechecked my games list, I also have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, Dawn of War 1 and Neverwinter Nights 2.

Also, doesn't Crysis have fairly high requirements?

If your PC was made any-time since the games release then the specs aren't that high, unless you want everything maxed at eyefinity resolutions.

I'd recommend visiting GoG.com for RPGs they may be old but some of the best crpgs made are pretty old. They have the fallout series and arcanum for a start and the fabulous (but voxel built ugliness of) Outcast.

Planescape:Torment. Be sure to mod it though, for widescreen support and winXP compatibility (I have it running on 64-bit win7). This is the best-written story-driven RPG to date. That it hasn't been supplanted during the last decade ought to tell you something of how good the game is.

Civilization 4 + expansions. An absolute must. The greatest strategy game ever.

On sci-fi side, we have Sword Of The Stars as rule-empire + tactical fighting. Or Sins Of A Solar Empire for a space RTS.

The Witcher, for a slightly different RPG. Great game, that.

Painkiller. A nice 'switch off your brains' FPS that entertains for hours.

Also, you may wish to try the Baldur's Gate saga. Get Baldur's Gate 1 + expansion (Tales Of The Sword Coast) & Baldur's Gate 2 + expansion (Throne Of Bhaal) and mod for widescreen support and the BGTuTu or BGT mods to unify them all into a single game that uses the superior Baldur's Gate 2 engine and ruleset. 80+h of RPG entertainment guaranteed.

Dude, the biggest RTS to come out in ten years is released yesterday, and you're asking what games to buy?

Rome: Total War, Medieval II: Total War, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Spore, and Bioshock are pretty good PC games. Battle For Middle Earth and Civilization IV are some very good PC games as well.

yeah, Crysis is fairly demanding.
Company of Heroes is a very good RTS
Morrowind, if you have not played it.

Near enough any game that is good on the consoles will be equally good on the pc. That is unless of course the developers were too busy sucking their thumbs and drolling whilst wondering whether or not to finish drinking that bottle of suphuric acid in the hopes that it might make them remember that "oh yeah, there are THREE major games platforms!" Instead of finishing the game for the 360 and PS3 then deciding to put a sheet of sandpaper covered in ants into the the PC packaging and calling it a f***ing game!

Personally I prefer Battlefield Bad Company 2 as my shooter of choice.

As for others, well.. Pop into your nearest game store and browse, write down the titles of the ones that seem interesting and look up reviews when you get home, then go buy =)

I don't mind old games as long as they have decent gameplay and story.

Always prefered Warcraft to Starcraft for some reason, still kind of ashamed to admit that I completely forgot about it coming out though.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

yeah it's designed for some kind of hypothetical super computer... from space...*exaggeration* actually the requirements aren't bad what r your specs anyway?

also get Deus Ex I don't care if it's 10 years old and looks like ass it's one of the greatest games of all time!!!

My specs are pretty high, 2.66 GB quad core, Nvidia 230 something (from memory) and 8 gb of ram (fairly new computer), but the graphics card lets me down sometimes if I try to play on max settings with some more modern games.
