I always liked army men, but then again, I'm weird. The only game I ever owned on the play station was final fantasy 7, during which I was bored to tears but kept remotely interested enough by the story. Toward the end of it though, I got a bit, I know how this will end and so stopped playing. Essentially I have no idea what to advise you. Now N64 games. That, I can do.

Oh wait! Spyro. Do it.

Spyro 1-3.

Just do it.

These were the ONLY Spyro games, so you should really try them.
These, definitely. Rule of thumb: Newer Spyro games have been anything from slightly below mediocre to spectacularily crappy, but if you see a Spyro game for the PS1, you're in for a treat you'll never forget!

Also, GRANDIA! The original. If you like RPGs, you can't afford to miss Grandia. I've played pretty much every Final Fantasy ever, Legend of Dragoon (also recommended), Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and Oblivion (to name a few), but Grandia remains my favorite to this day!

It crashes on occasion if you try it on a PS2, but since you will be using a PS1, you're guaranteed smooth sailing!
THERE WERE ONLY THREE SPYRO GAMES!!!!!

*Twitch*
These three were the ones that Insomniac did. Until someone else took over and screwed it up.

Oh yeah! Forgot the Gex games! Gex: Enter the Gecko, and whatever the 3rd was was called. Fun, full of pop culture references, and funny to boot.

Games I loved on the PS1?

Driver.

Sure, I never really did what you were supposed to do (I'm still not sure what that was) but I loved just joyriding and crashing into things. And there was that one level where the roads made awesome ramps.... *nostalgia* To be honest, I didn't have a PS1, that that was the only game I played when my friend brought his over.

Games I know other people loved on the PS1?

Metal Gear Solid (MGS3 is still my favourite, but thats PS2), FFVII, Parasite Eve, Final Fantasy Tactics, Silent Hill

The 3 Insomanic Spyro games and the Original Rayman.

The PS1 Armored Core Titles (Armored Core,Project Phantasma and Master of Arena) may also be worth looking at.

Well, people already said Silent Hill, MGS, & Galerians (which I definitely didn't expect). I'm gonna add Fear Effect. It isn't scary as the name suggests, but the story is worth it. Although, both galerians and fear effect are crazy about inserting a new CD every other damn level (if you're cool with that).

Probably cost you about £60 but its epic.
I got very lucky getting my copy. Found it used for $5 in a pawn shop. The disc is slightly scratched and every now and then a music track will skip, other than that, no problems.
