Listen to the people recommending the Zone of the Enders games. They're great. I'd also suggest picking up Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. It's still pretty good, it's very cheap, and its story takes place before every other Castlevania.

Persona 4 Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Arc the Lad , Star Ocean, Dragon Quest 8
I thought star ocean and arc the lad was for ps1.

Anyway
All the above listed games were awesome. I recommend them all along with
-Persona 3 fes
The original Star ocean was for PS1 I think. I had "Star Ocean: Til the End of Time" Also, I had "Arc the LAd: Twilight of the Spirit" Not sure if that is a sequal to a game that is on the PS1 or not.

Yep, Persona 3 has definitely been suggested to me a couple of times. I'm a bit more interested in playing Persona 4 though. Although I guess I should check out the Persona series in general. From what I hear they make have really good stories and characters and tackle really complex issues that are rarely seen in games and I find that very interesting.

The original Star Ocean was a Super Famicom Japanese-only game. The second one was on PS1 under Star Ocean: The Second Story. Followed by Star Ocean: Til the End of Time on PS2, and Star Ocean: The Last Hope on 360/PS3. Star Oceans 1 and 2 were also remade for PSP in the last couple of years, and released Stateside as First Departure and Second Evolution, respectively.

As a Star Ocean fan, I can't in good conscience recommend Til the End of Time. The combat system is just dreadful and unresponsive. I got about 3 hours into it when I decided "No, I can't take this anymore."

You want a great Star Ocean experience? Grab First Departure and Second Evolution.

You've gotta be careful when dealing with the PS2. It had some great games, but it had a whooooooole bunch of stinkers.

I know a LOT of people had a problem with it, but I think if you removed Vaan and Penelo from Final Fantasy XII you would be left with one of the best games of the franchise.

Shadow of the Colossus and ICO should be givens. Get those two immediately and play them before you allow yourself to sleep again.

And, of course, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. 3D platforming perfection.

Personally I think the best game on the PS2 is probably Resident Evil 4. It's just the right amount of crazy action and silly zombie fun.

The Burnout series, but particularly Burnout 3: Takedown.

Also in a driving mood, the conversion of Outrun 2006 Coast to Coast deserves special praise for how well it plays on the PS2.

Parappa the Rapper 2 - it's short but very, very sweet

Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari - everyone should play these games

Metal Arms: Glitch in the system.

Kinda like Ratchet and Clank, but more awesome, and less known.
