I might take a look at the new Tales game, I hear that series is good.
I highly recommend it. The Tales series IS amazing, especially for those that prefer real-time combat as opposed to turn-based. If you're a Final Fantasy fan, Tales is comparable in that each game is a story of its own, none of them are canonically connected(except for Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World being a prequel), and that every single game has a different battle system. It's like FF's real-time counterpart. That's where similarities end, though.
And if you haven't picked up Tales of Graces f yet, you need to(if you're a ps3 owner). If you've got a 3DS, pick up Tales of the Abyss immediately. Find a PS1 emulator and find Tales of Destiny and hook up a controller to your PC. And if you've got a Wii, find someplace online to buy Tales of Symphonia, a Gamecube controller and a memory card(my favorite Tales game, possibly favorite of all time). Although I can't honestly recommend Dawn of the New World. I just feel like that one was made to appease fanboys and fangirls. Also because of CanonBreaking, changed up voice actors and other various issues I have with the game. But yes. They're awesome games.
[sub]Tales of Graces f is made even better if you've played a lot of the previous Tales games, too. References galore...[/sub]
As for me, this year has certainly been a good year. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Tales of Graces f, Tales of the Abyss for 3DS, Dragon's Dogma. I'm quite looking forward to Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and Persona 4: The Golden.
