Or saw your avatar :p

But honestly, this person is clearly overreacting. Whatever Joss Whedon is, he is not a misogynist. Firefly is one of my favorite TV series of all time, so I realize that this may invalidate what I say, but this person has taken overreaction to a new extreme. Either this is a troll or there are really people that eager to take offense at stuff.

I have to say that now that I have subjected myself to the horror that is Firefly, I really am beyond worried about how much men hate us,
*facepalm* I just stopped reading right there.

I could only get a quarter of the way through... I can't begin to describe the sheer horror of her existence to me. It's really quite barbaric that she goes on like that, I mean as a misogynist I can't believe she can speak her mind at all. That's just plain wrong and horrible. [/sarcasm]

I'm joking by the way, about the misogynist part anyways. I seriously think she doesn't understand the meaning of the word sarcasm in the case of Kaylee. Hasn't at all thought about the actual fact Zoe has saved Mal's butt a good plenty times and that she was following orders of a man because he was higher ranked than her than him just being a man. So yeah, I'm disappointed in her but she has her right to speak her mind. Doesn't mean I have to honestly listen.

I also strongly wanted to quit reading after reading the word feminist. Rarely have I seen anything good come after that word.

EDIT:

Looking back on this... I'm not sure if this is a troll or not... Doesn't seem to be as she has taken to elsewhere than LiveJournal. Then again, could be an expert troll. If this person is a troll, she's a damned good one. If in fact she is even a she.

Or I'm merely in denial from this and hope that she is in fact a troll to brighten my spirits.

"A black woman calling a white man ?sir?. A white male captain"
I laughed at that bit. He is the bloody captain, of course you are going to call him sir. >.> The fact she is black and a woman has nothing to do with calling him sir

I couldn't read it all. Too much stupidity in one place makes my brain hurt. I'm pretty sure this is the woman who would watch Scrubs and say the the creator was sexist because Elliot breaks down all the time and Carla takes orders from men all the time as a nurse. The same woman who 'studied' Mass Effect when it first came out and said it was teaching women to hate women because of a 'sex' scene. If you look hard enough, you can find controversy anywhere you look, dumbass (referring to her). I could point out hundreds of points of 'racism' or 'sexism' or any ism's in any media with ease if I wanted while any sane person would just roll their eyes at that kind of thing.

Sorry, happy thoughts, happy thoughts... at least Firefly was a good show, regardless of the people who decide to look too much into simple things.

'The first scene opens in a war with Mal and Zoe. Zoe runs around calling Mal ?sir? and taking orders off him'

Good Lord, 2IC taking orders from a superior? Who'd a thunk?

I suppose all positions of power must now be given to non-Caucasian females....

Geez lady, take a chill pill.

I honestly can't stand people like this, they're the reason why so many people roll their eyes when they hear the word "feminist." How can you honestly expect people to take you and your message seriously when you are shitting yourself over a female calling her captain "sir" in a tv show and saying that every man who screws a woman is a rapist? She's to feminism what PETA is to the animal rights movement.

This review will make me watch Firefly with a new point of view. That of a robe-clad whiskey-sipping Victorian-era gentleman patiently waiting for his wife to finish cooking a roast. If she is not timely in her duties, she may be whipped with a stick no larger in diameter than my thumb.

But yeah, good job on the review...

Normally I would give her an insulting name, but my rage has rendered pretty much witless. Goodnight, folks!

Wow, I usually don't get upset over other people's opinions, but this person is terrible! I had to stop reading it only a few paragraphs in, it was upsetting me too much to continue.

I don't think she even understands what it means to be a feminist. Treating women as equals is not the same as treating women like delicate flowers. If women are not allowed to be portrayed negatively, like this person seems to believe, then they aren't equal to men, are they? She sounds more like a misandrist than a feminist to me.

That is kind of hilarious. Mal is the captain. Why would Zoe not call him sir? And why is every man in existence suddenly a rapist? Seriously, this woman could find a way to get offended by literally anything. I couldn't read the whole thing. I can only take so much whining.

Feminism is good up to a point, but it's people like her who turn it into a joke.

Dunno, I feel a lot of hate towards women. Or maybe just her.

Yeah, just her. I just plain don't understand other women.

Oh god stop, I don't think I can take anymore. This woman has a promising career in comedic writing if she just sticks with the themes she has laid out here.
This is clearly some of the most well written satire on the extreme feminist movement. The author's tone makes the reader almost begin to think that she means what is being written.
The piece de resistance came at the end of the article when the author called Joss Whedon's work homoerotic as an insult. This just oozed wit as the author made light of the hypocrisy involved in her "supposed" point of view.

I stopped there too for some reason. But I already nearly stopped around the "lesbian feminist sister" part. It can't be serious.
