The bit about calling the "white male sir", even though he's the fucking captain.... she's not too bright is she?

Wow. The one post that makes a good job of refuting her worthless claims... She immediately goes into Gestapo mode, accuses the guy of being "pro-prostitution" and says any posts along those lines (in other words, posts agreeing with this guy who just owned her) will be deleted.

That's how you win arguments without refuting the opposing side's debating points.

Apparently she also doesn't get that it isn't sexist for crew members to call the freaking captain "sir" or "captain."

I've been reading some of her other things... I think she's honestly legit. No way this is a troll... and with that I'm devastated.

I need to go cry now.

Wow, I usually don't get upset over other people's opinions, but this person is terrible! I had to stop reading it only a few paragraphs in, it was upsetting me too much to continue.

I don't think she even understands what it means to be a feminist. Treating women as equals is not the same as treating women like delicate flowers. If women are not allowed to be portrayed negatively, like this person seems to believe, then they aren't equal to men, are they? She sounds more like a misandrist than a feminist to me.

Yes, I believe you may be right.

This is why I think feminists are retarded, I have no idea were she is getting half the crap she is writing, talk about friken paranoid. It's crap like this that makes feminists look like a pack of man hating lesbians.
Eh, you can't really blame them all. It's just the feminazis. The original movement wasn't so bad. But, you know, it's gone the way of Green Peace if you get the hint. Original meaning changes and is replaced by thinly veiled bullshit - equality movements turn into self-promotion and attempted domination movements, a bunch of hippies for environment turns into anti-capitalism and anti-corporation group that's barely camouflaged as an environmental group, and so on.

So... did she even watch Firefly before she wrote this?

Don't answer that, I don't think either answer could make me happier. I've rarely seen someone misinterpret someting quite so hard. Sure there's room for alternate character interpretation, but some of it just doesn't make sense.

Hell, Zoe calling the captain 'sir' is addressed, no less than three times if memory serves, and explored in quite some depth, by her husband, by Inara (shameless hussy that she is, wanting to make friends with other people)

In fact, I return to my earlier opinion. When she watched this, she must have been blind drunk and at a member of the 'Men are Glorified Sperm Donors' annual meeting.

Yet another feminist who misunderstands what being one is, I have had a friend explain to me in great detail what it means to be one. As a guy, I can only understand so much, but yeah.

Alright, first I must say that I do not watch firefly, so I can't speak specifically in this cade, but in general, I really feel that this kind of feminism makes me gush red hatred out of every bodily opening. Let me share my view of feminism:

YES, it's right that women and men should get the same wages, everything else is seriously f****d up.

NO, men and women should not be treated in the same way, SINCE WE ARE DIFFERENT! Everyone with two working eyes can see that there is a difference between a man and a woman, and that counts for the psyche, too. Of course, there aren't two women that are alike, but generally women like ohter things than men do.

I'm reading through the comments right now (instead of sleeping...) and fuck that shit is good.

This is so going into my bookmarks, I'll enjoy laughing my ass off at it.

For all I care, men and women should be treated absolutely the same. The more we move away from barbaric industrial civilization (and we're pretty much out of it in developed countries) the less alleged differences in physique will matter. They already don't, in most jobs.

Wages, rights, everything. There would certainly be issues that would be harder to equalize, but for the most part I don't see much of a problem. One of these main issues would of course be the maternity leave. Which is, I suppose, kind of mitigated by the fact that having a kid if voluntary and not necessarily something every one will do. But in worst case scenario, the laws could be tweaked a little bit.

Our culture is sexist to both genders when it comes to many things.

Now I'm falling asleep, so fuck this whole rant.

P.S. Anti-porn and pretty much anti-sex feminists really crack me up.

Maybe... would explain why I can honestly believe that she's being serious. At least I hope she is.

And that's the scary part; most of the comments are about how wonderful her article is and how they agree with everything she's saying, only a brave few have pointed out the errors or clear bias. Argh...it makes me want to pull my hair out. Women like this make the rest of us look bad.

Someone made a thread a few days back about reversing feminism and wondering why the term 'feminist' has become an insult. The author of this blog is a perfect example.

That was hilarious, but tragic.
I really fail to see how a man telling a woman to be quiet or a woman saluting to a male captain qualifies as sexism. Both of those things were incidental and had nothing to do with her gender. Some people really can overreact about stuff but this is near sensationalist and even though I support feminism (I have two older sisters who would murder me if I didn't) I still refuse to accept this as a legitimate complaint.
If anything, the fact that the female crew members aren't treated any differently to the males should be a sign of equality, which unless I am completely misguided, is what feminism is all about.
I especially thought it was a little hyprocritical for her to go all crazy about the men, shouting in man voices and using man words.... that just makes her sound hysterical.

EDIT:

Besides, this may sound like an easy pot shot but if this woman really wants to find an example of pop culture that is drenched with themes that can easily be labelled as 'sexist' she needs look no further than Twilight. I mean the Vampire boy treats the girl like shit, ignoring her, abandoning her, insulting her and contantly puts her at risk... but she laps it up and seems to demand more abuse.
That's my persception of it anyway, so I could be wrong.

Wise decision, I considered it too at exactly those words but curiosity spurred me on. It only degenerates. Good for lulz though.
