We need something like this to maybe get the message through to all those thick-skulled congressmen who think this horrid bill is a good idea.

Twitter and Google would do it for sure. Facebook would probably hop on the bandwagon, but I doubt they'd do it by themselves. Yahoo would probably do it to save face and not be "that guy".

The irony of Twitter and Google being down is that the internet would grind to a halt and no one would be able to talk about how much SOPA sucks. They'd have to resort to texting! OH NOEZ!

Actually, yeah, I agree. A day won't get people pissed off and fight against SOPA if it happens for just a day. If it's just a day, people will find something else to do and think that it's just some stupid publicity stunt. They'll just forget about it. If it's a week, then people will get restless, realize that this is a big deal and learn how to fight it.

Even if the whole internet came down for a day, everyone probably has enough offline entertainment to make it though, sanity intact.
