yes, i brought back the "grab something" threads, i just had this awesome idea for one!

ok, look around the room you are now in and select something, be it an item of furniture or something on your desk, as long as it's not attatched to the building it's ok! (you don't actually have to pick it up), once you have done that, AND NOT BEFORE!!!, click on the spoiler

oh no! you have fallen through a wormhole and are now in deep space! and have only the object you just selected! Assuming that The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is correct in saying that you can survive in space for 30 seconds with a lungful of air, exactly how long do you have to live?

EDIT: people have quite correctly pointed out that few thing's would help much in this situation, short of plastic bottles and scuba gear, so instead of focusing on how much time you have, how do you feel about your current situation?

Well I picked up a towel. So that might help me, granted that I am saved. Which I doubt.

Unless someone grabbed an oxygen tank? 30 seconds... no matter what... If you open your mouth, you can't eat or you'll exhale a bit. Office supplies, TVs, electronics, all are useless...

The answer for everyone but an oxygen suppling system is 30 seconds

This is what I was thinking, I can't imagine many people, if any, survived past the first 30 seconds.

30 seconds. Which I can figure out using my handy-dandy calculator.

EDIT: And like everyone is saying, there's really no way anyone will have something lying around that's useful in this situation.

Although if you're curious I grabbed a 360 controller so I don't have more than half a minute.

not necessarily, a plastic bottle could hold enough air to last a couple more minutes
