So, Rockstar finally brings it into the online realm. Honestly, they could have called it 'Life: The Game' from the looks of it. Now, if they would only announce that PC version...

Also worth noting that it comes free with every retail version of GTA 5 and releases on 1st October.

There is absolutely no way that this won't come to PC. It's like an MMO, but done right. And considering the MMO base on PC it would be insanity not to release this thing on PC.

Possibly stretching to the new year depending on how many interventions are thrown.

Looks great, as long as you don't have to grind for days to get enough money for a haircut.

But how are they going to handle safehouses? Once someone buys one, does it remain his permanently?

I am thinking of waiting to get this on the PS4 if possible, the PS4 will allow you to download stuff via Gaikai right? So GTA V and the online will be on PS4? If so, I will hold off.

There's no confirmation of a next gen version of GTA V, so we have to assume that if GTA V is available on PS4 via Gaikai, it will be the PS3 version.

If this is the case, then it won't be available for download, it will be streamed like On-Live.

The type of super-fast broadband that would be required to flawlessly stream a game as large as GTA V and play it's online multiplayer mode simultaneously is probably beyond the reach of most consumers at the moment, not to mention the PSN as it stands at the moment.

Even the concept of steaming games via Gaikai is theoretical at the moment and is really only feasible for parts of Japan with super fast connections.

If you were to wait until GTA Online is available to be played on the PS4 via Gaikai, then you're going to be waiting for a very long time for, not just for the game to be made available, but for the theoretical level of broadband required to become a reality and to become available (at an affordable rate) to the average consumer.

Reminds me of APB and that GTA: San Andreas online mod that was a terrible waste of everyone's time. Oh, don't get me wrong, the trailer for this looks great, but being reminded of those two have made me terribly depressed.

No its not. If you read some of the interviews, Rockstar has said:

"We want it to be known as a different entity, a separate thing, and it'll grow on its own. It'll be GTA Online; it's not part of GTA V,"

"Obviously it's set in the GTA V engine, but it's going to grow and evolve into its own thing."

So, I mean I guess if you consider your word stronger than the developers, than yeah, its GTA V Multiplayer.

I gotta wonder, though, you get the online component for free if you get GTA V. What does GTA online cost on it's own? Does it even get sold separately?

It's not an MMORPG type thing so I can dig that. It's basically a deeper version of GTA IV's online. 16 players and all that. If I can control who gets in, and who doesn't, I'll be pretty happy.

Sorry, this is a bit off topic, but do you only play games with a female protagonist? I can understand preferring a game to have it, but from your posts I would think you outright deny them. Which is a bit unfair...

OT: This looks really fun. I doubt I will get GTA5 at launch but I really hope the population is there to stay. I was hyped to play GTA4 multiplayer but found it to be dead. Although to be fair, I did get the PC version so...

Oh you people spazzing out over every MMO as if this time it really will be the impossible game everyone wants, forgetting all the limits MMO's must have which makes them horrid and boring.

We should probably wait and see what the real thing is because this looked simply like GTA 4 multiplayer plus one sort of editor.
