Welp... Rockstar is pretty good at creating interesting environments so i trust them to create a map that's both big and fun to explore. I mean, Red Dead Redemption was mostly desert and it still looked nice.

I think they are saying that you can choose to switch between them though, as in you're in a chase and you can choose to play as the driver, the guy with the machinegun or the sniper keeping watch.

That is the feeling I got at least, I might be wrong, though I hope I am not.
Whoops...I guess I was a bit blunt about that.

I mean that I wonder if they will force us to play all three or can we have a favorite character. I think I saw someone say they have different styles, people, contacts and etcs. So who know, this could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Honestly I hate when I like one person and then I HAVE to switch to another one...but that's me and a change is good once in a while. So I guess I have to wait until they play out...

if I get the game that is. :D

Every GTA game i've played has worked fine on PC.

Also, you asked three questions, not two.
Fair enough, the first one was meant to be more like a "Can I get across the map in more fun ways".

See not so much with me at first, I dunno if a patch got released or something but mine started chugging like you wouldn't believe, even on medium settings. I tried again later and it seemed to work fine but by then I had Saint's Row II and just didn't care.

Yeah, the concern to me isnt the concept of empty padded space... The concern to me with this is that the space will actually be filled.

Rockstar seems to lack full understanding of repetitiveness. Every friggen rockstar release is plaugued by it. Instead of keeping the product fun and a shorter pace, they overload the content of the game with mirrors of content they already presented. It typically doesnt take long before your thinking YAAAA another fetch quest... Yaaa, another escort mission.

The biggest problem that presents is by doing so, they essentially kill the content. When youve done 15 similar escort missions, when you look back on it a year later after playing, you essentially cannot recall what made each one distinct or memorable. When all the content in your game falls to the same failing, Your entire product ends up unmemorable. Which for game development is typically the kiss of death.

Yuh-huh. Don't get swirled into the PR storm, just about every open-world game claims it has THE BIGGEST MAP YOU HAVE EVER SEEN WE SWEAR YOU COULD FIT 30 SAN ANDREAS'S IN THIS THING! GTA IV did it, Red Dead did it, even Assassins Creed 3 has an ad that plays up the frontier area as this huge world that stretches across multiple states and gives you, and I quote, "A continent to explore". While it's true it technically covers multiple states, come on, this has nothing on Red Dead or San Andreas, let alone something like Skyrim.

I'm not saying this can't be true, just that we should take it with a giant lump of salt.

Great. More bloody map to commute across on the way to the next mission.

Do I sound thrilled? 'Cause I'm totally thrilled.

Well the 4th one had some issues, it was optimised very poorly, personally i didn't have many issues after i downloaded some files that allowed me to change graphics settings beyond that ridiculous limiter.

My first thought after reading this, hopefully there will be many checkpoints and taxis.

Here is a leaked map that has a feel of "this might be real" due to the map layout and the other screens released but also a feel of "fake" due to the fact that the menu layout seems exactly similar to GTA IV and for now Rockstar hasnt copied layouts from their previous games and the image seems fairly easy to fake.

The game informer info comes from a demo that Rockstar showed so this image may come from that demo

The 3 maps "can" fit in there since the city here seems REALLY big with a shitload of roads

okey...

I am like ok, just ok. What really matters is the content thougt. Why have an infinite space if theres nothing to do at all, like some other games(MINECRAFT) do.

That's an ambitious promise. It could be a lot of empty space with not much actual content. I LOVE scenery porn, but if that's all 90% of the game's good for then I'll be disappointed. That was somewhat the case for San Andreas and IV, they had so much space and a lot of it felt wasted somehow. I hope there are missions and explorable buildings available in most corners of the map.

Multiple characters sounds interesting. That could certainly cover more ground. I wonder if there are different missions for each, if they can do the same story missions or if it follows parallel story progression.

Could be. Comparing it to the San Andreas map it does look like a scaled up version of Los Santos. Makes it seem like a small town in comparison.

Î`m hyped about this game. The return of the random events and the three different characters with own abilities, which means that i can replay certain missions in a different playstyle, sounds great. I only fear this game is a bit to much for the current consoles to handle and there`s no way i`ll be able to get a gaming pc in the near future.
Hopefully they`ve learned from GTA4 since the friendship system brings back bad memories of anoying calls and boring minigames.

Bigger isn't necessarily better but I'm feeling optimistic at the moment. Here's the big question though: will they let you have a jet pack? I can understand if there aren't jet packs but if GTAV is going to be that big will there at least be jet fighters in addition to helicopters? It doesn't need to be wacky but it would be very nice to have Jets and jet packs again. Also it would be nice to get on the internet and send snide emails to my mom. I liked doing that as Niko [/sarcasm]

Some info pulled from gameinformer:

"According to Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto V's Los Santos is bigger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV combined. Yep. There's wilderness, a military base, and even an ocean floor to explore underwater.

You can switch between the game's three main protagonists at "nearly any time."

Those three protagonists, by the way, are named Michael, Trevor, and Franklin. Michael is a retired bank robber who gets sucked back into crime; Trevor is a career criminal and drug addict; Franklin is a 20-something street hustler.

Sometimes they'll work together on missions, during which you can switch back and forth from character to character depending on which part of a given mission you feel like doing.

Each character has his own personality, skill set, and group of friends to interact with. And the ones you're not controlling will go off and do their own thing.

This is the same world as Grand Theft Auto IV and Liberty City, so you might see some recurring characters from those games (just not the major ones, like Niko Bellic). But. Rockstar says this is the "high-definition" world of Grand Theft Auto, so don't expect to see anyone from the PS2-era titles.

Remember those randomized dynamic missions in Red Dead Redemption? They're back for GTAV: expect hitchhikers, muggers, and dead bodies, among others.

Yes friendships. No romance.

Rockstar says there will be an economy, but you won't be able to buy properties. There will be "loads of other stuff."

"According to Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto V's Los Santos is bigger than Red Dead Redemption, San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto IV combined."

That is a hell of a lot of space, thoughts? Is that a good or a bad thing really?

I think it can be both, san andreas was a barrel of fun with all the places to play around in, but GTA IV was much prettier and more presented, with a much more focused set of details and so on.

Thoughts on anything else? I like the implication that other main characters will run around while you are off doing your thing on the third protagonist.
A colossal world doesn't mean anything if they don't get the interactivity right. I would much rather play a game in an area the size of my hometown where I could walk into peoples houses and office buildings and look around than play a game the size of wales that's all outdors with about 6 building interiors.
But maybe what I want needs more memory and more powerful processors to run. It seems all the games I play now have a few of the things I would like, but at the cost of some other stuff.
Dishonored-like levels of environment detail would be nice. Or maybe watchdogs style city hacking.

Actually screw it, I'll just buy watch dogs and watch the escapist for reviews of GTA V.
