Apparently so according to the news stories.

EDIT: While some people are complaining that merely repeating DC's massively advertised announcement that Robin will die SOMEHOW qualifies a massive spoiler the fact is that DC has been telling everything about the story just SHORT of precisely HOW Robin will die.

DC spoiled the Death of Superman by advertising that Doomsday was going to kill Superman months before the issue came out. Same here. Cope.

SPOILER ALERT!!! They say how it happens in the news articles!

Robin ? Damian Wayne ? will die in issue No. 8 of DC Comics? ?Batman Incorporated,? which hits shelves Wednesday.

It seems that this story was planned and has been a long time coming.

I haven't read Batman...ever, really. Just Miller's The Dark Knight Returns. I knew a girl who was best friends with someone who hated the old Robin--Jason Todd--so much she called the 900 number to vote 125 times for Todd to die.

The final tally for his death was somewhere under 100 votes.

So yeah: I knew the girl who knew the girl who killed the last Robin who died. If they did bring Todd back later on I wouldn't be surprised.

Who knows? Maybe this Robin stay dead for more than a few months or so.

Nah! Somebody will bring him back.

DC has managed to keep people dead for several years occasionally, so maybe this one will stick as well (for a while at least).

I stopped reading comics before this new Robin got introduced though, so I don't really have an opinion either way.

dont think I've read anything with this robin

seriosuly though killing off robin is hardly original

and just as I said in the other thread Batwoman proposed to her girlfreind, reason I bring it up is I think the B-listers need more love :(

...no not in that way!

Yeah...I think this might have a bit more of an impact if not for precident...

I mean, they've 'killed' Batman at least twice now (Batman R.I.P.[footnote]"This is the end of Bruce Wayne as Batman" - Grant Morrison[/footnote] and Final Crisis[footnote]I think this image kinda speaks for itself.[/footnote]), and then they killed off at least two of the Robins[footnote]Stephanie Brown and Jason Todd[/footnote], both of whom returned from the grave...oh and let's not forget this little ditty:

Though really, I think we all knew better in that case.

You know what, I'm just gonna go ahead and quote TVTropes' "Death is Cheap" page for this:

When it comes to mainstream comics, nobody believes in death any more. Marvel and DC spend most of their time assuring us over and over that the characters they killed off are dead FOR REALLY REAL THIS TIME, YOU GUYS! No one ever believes them. For example, no matter how many times the Marvel editors stated outright that Captain America wouldn't be coming back, most fans were just making wagers on how long it would take. Turns out it's about a year.

He'll be back in a year or two.

Plus, with the whole magic/lazuros pit thing...maybe even sooner.

Death is no longer really relevent to Marvel and DC. It's more like you won't see this character for a while depending how popular that character is.

I suppose Damian death will serve some impact to the Bat family seeing how he is Bruce biological son and he is the sidekick to Dick when he was Batman after they thought Bruce was dead.

In saying so didn't Talia clone her son when Damian choose to be his father side than her and the League of Assassins?

Uh, isn't this thread title an absolutely massive spoiler?
Not really, seeing how though the issue hasn't even come out yet DC is still announcing the death rather loudly.

Well, gee, thanks for that completely massive fucking spoiler right there in a thread title.

Definitely something that's awfully nice to see whilst browsing a forum completely unrelated to comics.

No seriously. Thanks.

Yeah, I agree. While being no reader of current Batman issues myself, this thread title is probably the most spoilerific thing in the history of offtopic.

Don't complain about spoilers. DC have been promoting the issue on this very fact. They also revealed that Damian will die "Doing his job" as "a hero". The only thing they haven't revealed is his exact cause of death.

This is why I switched to 2000AD. Last year they pulled off a three way crossover that was a total secret until readers got a hold of the issue in question. It's not that hard to keep secrets.

Aww that sucks, I like Damian, while I prefer Dick Grayson and Tim Drake to Damian I still admit that I do like him, he felt to me that he was what Jason Todd "should" have been like. I am also really suprised that they are killing Damian in Batman Incorporated and not Batman and Robin.

He may stay dead though, DC have kept characters perma-dead before now, even if no one ever seems to notice that fact. Don't believe me? Look at Ted Kord, the old Blue Beetle.

Man this SUCKS.

I liked Damian Wayne.

Besides, I'm kinda tired of the killing of characters just for the sake of mild fake drama and sales that will just mean nothing in a few years.

Well THAT just ruined the surprise.

You know, these major character deaths might actually work if people stop spoiling them.

you mean like how dc said hey this is what we are going to do. this is how it's going to happen, and after he is dead we are going to focus on how batman and talia deal with it.

Yeah... and? Robins are cheap. There have been at least 5 different Robins that I know of. Robin dieing or retiring (Well done Dick you managed to not die, keep pressing X though Nightwing can't last forever) is not something new. Now if Bruce Wayne died and Dick took over (and it didn't turn out that Bruce was teleported back in time by means of bullshit writing) then maybe I'd be more into it. This isn't Spider-man dieing and being replaced with a black guy, this is another Robin dieing in a long line of Robins.
