But what gets me about And Justice For All is just how blandit all is. The lead singer's voice, for example - it's not quite growling, but also not quite singing. Is it supposed to convey rage? It doesn't. Same goes for the riffs. Mind you, "One" is definitely good, so if the other albums have more songs like that...
Vocals were never Metallicas strong point.

What you have to remember is that Metallica aren't famous for being the best thrash metal band, they're famous for being the FIRST thrash metal band anyone noticed. I could list a dozen bands that are in the same genre and do it better than Metallica, but I'll just say that only "Kill em all" and "Master of Puppets" are must-listen-too's while it's not a sin to ignore the rest.
Out of interest, can you pin down any particular "reason" why you and others like the Thrash genre? Y'know, what attracted you to it?

I'm not sure why The Beatles keep popping up here. I personally think they still sound great today. Half the stuff on Revolver would probably still get tons of acclaim if it were just released... Just don't make me listen to Yellow Submarine. Terrible song

I'll have to say Nirvana. They're music is pretty good. I always like to hear it on the radio. To be honest, though, I think their importance is exaggerated simply because Kurt Cobain killed himself before they became irrelevant (which probably wouldn't have taken that long)

I stumbled upon a Metallica song on Youtube and liked it.

I mean, how can I explain it? I like certain thrash metal because the riffs are groovy as fuck, the vocals have some power to them, because it's not intent on being politically correct.

So in short, I like it because it's edgy as fuck and I'm an edgy dude who don't need no authority or clean vocals.
Lol, alright. Just wondering. I have a friend who is also a metalhead, so I shall see if he can grant me any of his musics next time we meet - I'm not averse to trying new things, after all.
