Great bands that you just never "got".

I wholly agree with the Grateful Dead.
I also want to throw out Muse, I just don't get it.
Thirdly, I just don't like Slipknot.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that the people who like Slipknot are into torturing themselves and others.

OT: My Chemical Romance. I have the same problem with them that i do with Pierce The Veil. I cannot stand the dudes voice. It's not as bad as Pierce The Veil, but it's still bad.

A few actually. All of these bands I appreciate their impact and their influence as well as talent but I could never get into.

Metallica. Their first 3 albums are real landmarks in Thrash but still I never felt hooked by them and after that they strayed off terribly. They have sold more albums than any of Metal band ever to this day and are worshiped but it boggles my mind why exactly. And this is coming from a huge thrash fan/metalhead.

The Beatles. I just don't care for them all that much. I wish I did because some people don't seem to take you seriously as a music fan if you're not a fan of 'the fab four'.

Nirvana. Just not a good sound, never was into grunge. Cobain is seen as Martyr by some and it annoys me to be honest.

The Sex Pistols. Never cared for their sound. I understand the impact but really don't. Megadeth's cover of Anarchy in the UK really blows their version out of the water.

Muse. I just think they're a bag of shit. I hate the singers voice he always sounds like he's whispering and somebody once said 'Muse and more specifically Matt Bellamy is making guitar solos cool again, he's bringing them back!' and that PISSED ME THE FUCK OFF because guitar solos are always awesome and if they listened to metal they're being done all the fucking time.

AC/DC. I like some of their tunes but they have been making the same album since Back in Black.

The Cure. Not really my style and I have never met a fan that isn't a total degenerate fuck.

Sex Pistols - Same reasons as mentioned above. I don't hate them, but they were more a social phenomenon than a musical one.

Patti Smith - Once again, not terrible, but I never understood why various hard rock/progressive groups were thrashed for their pretentious lyrics, yet she got a free pass. (On a related note, Patti Smith was not the best lyricist of the 1970s - that would be Donald Fagen of Steely Dan.)

The Seeds - How on Earth are these guys praised by critics? They're even more limited than AC/DC when it comes to songwriting. To be fair, it's possible to fill an LP with a decent amount of their songs, but that's about it.

I like a couple of their songs, and I see what makes them a great band, but I could just never get in to their music, something about it just didn't draw me in.

Also Nirvana, for the same reason a lot of people have been stating. Very unique, defined a music genre, but still just not my thing.

Nirvana - I especially dislike people telling me he was the spokesman for my generation. Excuse me, but Kurt was a moderately talented musician at best, basically a white trash, garage-band loser who happened to be luckier than thousands of other, virtually identical acts, and who offed himself because he couldn't handle success. Not one word of that speaks for me or anyone I know. The compliment is especially ironic given the man's incoherence when performing. Forget lyricosis, I'm not sure he used actual words at all.

System of a Down - Half the people I know have extolled the manifold virtues of Serj Tankian. I just don't get it. The whole thing seems calculated to induce headaches, but his voice deserves special mention.

Guns n' Roses - Were insanely popular when I was a teen. Even at that tender age, it sounded to me as if Axl had two alley cats fighting inside his throat.

Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley - To like these guys you had to be young when they were introduced. They're musical dinosaurs. 50 years ago, this stuff might have been relevant. Now, it's not. Go comb over your bald spot and take your Metamucil, gramps.

Metallica, Kiss and AC/DC - are testaments to how far you can go with modest skills. Most Metallica fans don't even know many of the songs they are famous for are actually covers. I like 3-4 tracks and that's it.

Billy Joel - Actually I think he might be the best songwriter alive today. I have great respect for his musical ability, I just don't like to listen to him. Also, the radio is on all day at my work, so I get to hear "Piano Man" 10-12 times a day, every day. It...gets...old.

Of course, having said all that, some of these acts paved the way for what followed. Maybe half the music I like nowadays wouldn't exist if these other guys hadn't laid a foundation for it.

I'm only mostly a degenerate fuck, so you don't get to say that anymore. I'm not that much of a fan, does it still count?

Arctic Monkeys - I quite like them to a degree but I've never understood why they are so widely praised by fans and critics alike. I always end up thinking to myself, "yeah they're good, but they're not that good."

The Cure - To be fair they have got some good songs but does it always have to be so over dramatic? I don't mind sad songs but I could do without the melodrama over every little thing.

Daft Punk *the shields, they cannot take it captain* - I just don't get it honestly. Some bass, some bleeps and bloops and lyrics repeated over and over in a robotic sounding voice. Sounds like every other dance song to me.

Nirvana - Very popular, but I can't get into grunge genre.

Green Day - I liked one or two of their songs, but for the most part I don't like them. It's not my favorite genre, so that doesn't help anything.

Any classic rock: It all bores me. I get the "been there done that" feeling.

My biggest contender here would be Queen. It's all too much sooo biiig gestures. It's too theater, too opera, while being too harmless at the same time.
