Great but extremely unknown/underrated games.

Okami. Seriously.

Okami Okami Okami. It is THE BEST game of the entire lifespan of the Playstation 2. My friend SOLD his PS2 after playing that game because he knew there was never going to be anything better for it. Which he now regrets, because he gets the urge to play the game over again. It's a nice little action platformer with some RPG elements to it, all set in a beautiful cell-shaded world that looks like it sprouted out of a sumi-e painting. The characters are well written, your actually really really useful sidekick has a HILARIOUS fascination for boobies even though he's only an inch tall, and the story is PURE GOLD. I mean, really, you will shed at least one tear by the end of this game because of the story. AND IF YOU DON'T THEN YOU HAVE A WITHERED HEART MADE OF STONE.

And the best part? It's only 20 bucks. AND THAT IS BRAND SPANKING NEW. And don't get the Wii version, I hear that the Wii version is a lot harder than the PS2 version AND it's more expensive.

Also, any Shin Megami Tensei game is underappreciated in any place outside of Japan. SMT is a much better JRPG game franchise than, oh, let's say, Final Fantasy.

Star Wars: Republic Commando was surprisingly good.

Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner, is one of my favorite games of all time. And an extremely good game.

Star Wars: Republic Commando (Xbox) seems dated now but then it was amazing and could be again if someone gave it a graphics overhaul and a new story.
Republic Commando was awesome, I played it on PC and I loved every second of it.

Tomba! was fucking great. And Tomba! 2. Awesome, awesome platformers.

Also going to mention Odin Sphere, though I don't know how "unknown" it is.

ETA: Vagrant Story! Best localization ever.

Cold Winter on the PS2. If Rare had done a sequel to Goldeneye on the PS2 it probably would have been just like this. One of my favourite all time shooters. I prefer it to all the CoD's, MoH's etc.

No fucker's ever heard of it though.

Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis for GBA

I had more fun with this than with FF Tactics.

Chrono Cross for PS1

Suffers from Big Brother syndrome thanks to Chrono Trigger, but it has the best soundtrack in gaming and an innovative spin on normal RPG combat that I truly enjoyed.

Arcanum,7th Guest, The 3 Goblins Games, The Legend of Kyrandia series, The Horde(starring Kirk Cameron) Sword of the Samurai, The Black Cauldron. Those would be some of my favorites for PC that are not that much played nowadays. :)..... Oh and some fun old PS1 games Parasite Eve and Vagrant Story.

Dragon Warrior Monsters 2: Tara's Adventure.

A fun little RPG for the Gameboy Color that I picked up at Schottensteins a good 7 or more years back or so. I still doubt many people know of this game, but it was a lot of fun. Lots of monsters to find and train, fun worlds, and just a lot to do. If you've got a gamboy color and find a copy of this game, I'd really suggest picking it up.

I had Cody's (I think that was the boy's name) and this was a fucking excellent game, I lost it at some point, but I had bred up all the super monsters and wrecked everything in the game, it was awesome.

Earth Defense Force 2017 on the 360. Budget title, but oh so god damn fun.

Also both Gungrave games, as more people seem to know of the anime, but are completely unaware of the games.
