And that.
That is the movie in it's entirety.
Just...you have to watch.

Now skip to 4:55.

Yes that's right, not only did Gandalf's horse just kick Denethor in the face, but it was also accompanied by rather cringe-worth directing. I also laugh and a cringe at the same time when I see Denethor get hit and fall over.

A film about my favorite childhood superhero done by one of my favorite directors...How could it go so horribly wrong? Why, God, why?!

Really? I loved the ending.

I'm not sure how their relationship would work out when he can't speak, but still

OT: Mine's also Oldboy, only with the action scenes. I feel like they're trying to paint him as this tragic figure, but also make him a god whenever he's fighting... You can't have it both ways!

But I mean it is just so... gut punching. Yeah, it generated an emotional reaction that not many other movies have done, but at what price. I would much rather take a cliche stereotypical ending that is fun and awesome to watch than an original and depressing "Whatthefuck?"

I think that's why I loved the ending so much. It made me think. It made me think about things that I really never want to think about again, but it made me think.

To each his own, I guess...

Are we talking cringe-worthy/hard to watch as in bad? or scary/brutal/etc?

As for Bad?
I would have to say in Iron Man, when Pepper and the SHIELD guys are going to confront The Dude Obadiah- they get to his big factory and they move towards the back but Pepper's ID badge doesnt work, so the SHIELD guys put something on the door lock and Pepper says something along the lines of "Oh, whats that? Some kind of fancy gadget thing to blow open the door without the key?" It sounded like a line from an episode of Speed Racer in how strange and quickly it was delivered.

As for Brutal/etc?
In Casino Royale, where Le Chiffre is interrogating Bond, and his goons strip him naked and cut out the seat of the chair, then he keeps hitting him in the gonads with the knotted rope, ugh... I mean, there are a lot of torture-porn kind of horror films out there like Saw and Hostel, but here you had a scene where it was much more disturbing and hard to watch BECAUSE they didnt show anything, and instead your imagination went wild

It seemed like they really reigned Raimi in for the first film. Then when that was a success he was given a bit more leeway with the second, which turned out great. So the top cats at the studio thought he knew what he was doing and released Raimi to the wild to give us. . . that.
If I remember correctly, Raimi was actually knee-caped for Spider Man 3. He claimed many of the decisions were made by the studio, and he was handicapped by bad choices and horrible casting that made his job impossible to do well. Hell if I know if its true or not.

As for cringe worthy... anything with this guy in it.

Not really a cringe worthy scene, but in the Exorcist where the boxer guy says he can't recommend the exorcism because there is not enough proof. NOT ENOUGH PROOF!!! The girl was seen walking backwards down stairs, spitting green goo and making things move with her powers and that's not enough proof!?

In Indiana Jones: The Temple of Doom, when they jump out of the plain on a life raft it just made me think "yeah, that's a little over-board".

There are a lot of sex scenes that I feel don't need to be there.
