Half Life 2. I just found it to be so....dull.

The Episodes were awesome, with a good justifiable length that doesn't outstay it's welcome.

With Half Life 2 the game just keeps on going....it takes too long to get anywhere! The set pieces are far too spread out to keep me interested....

I could never get into The Sims, trying to keep my little guy alive long enough to go to work without being depressed nearly drove me insane. This does not make it a bad game however, it's a fairly decent game that allows a player to have extreme control over a virtual representation of whoever they wanted, but i just suck at it.

Any Resident Evil game. I tried it for N64 and hated the typewriter save bullshit. I tried RE5 for the PS3 and the controls were some of the worst I have ever experienced.

Interesting topic, I think I see what you're trying to do here.

For me, it was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. I just didn't enjoy it. I played it on the PC and beat the campaign and enjoyed it immensely, but then the multiplayer was just not fun for me. I then received it as a gift for my 360. I tried to get into the campaign, but it just wasn't nearly as fun the second time through, and then figured I'd give the multiplayer a go, but again, I couldn't get into it. I think it's a good game, good concept, good controls, good lots of stuff, and it's considered an amazing game, but I just cannot have fun playing it...

Oblivion

Totaly useless leveling system.
Horrendous voice acting.
Inadequate animations.
Story was unspecial, usual save the kingdom style.
Every combat encounter feels the same.

Basicly the game lacked a strong story, active world etc.

For me, it was Supreme Commander. I was impressed by the size and scale of the battles, the variety of units, and the generally streamlined interface, but I just found the game itself very dull. I can definitely see why some people would like it--I'm just not one of those people.

Arkham Asylum. This game got high scores almost everywhere, everyone I heard talking about it loves it, it seems to be a total nergasm to the entire gaming public. Personally, I was too bored to play about an hour after the Bane boss fight. And even getting there was a chore.

This partially stems from me not liking Batman much (and thus not getting all the jokes/memes about him being awesome). He's about as uninteresting a superhero as they come and the only thing that made the Batman franchise bearable so far were the villains. However, I found the AA version of the Joker downright annoying to endure, so that killed it for me even further.

I normally like 3rd person action adventure games. I adore the Sands of Time trilogy and the Legacy of Kain games, and I even played the crap out of God of War 1&2 this summer on my friend's PS2. However, AA didn't sit with me. The main character was sluggish and handled like a pregnant manatee. The combat was a fun when I first saw it, but as soon as the novelty wore off I found that it felt like a very long Quicktime event and was actually one of the low points of the game for me.

Detective Vision was a terrible idea. Making the player choose between getting important game info or seeing the nice graphics is about as dumb as they can make it. The whole thing could have been done in a far less invasive manner and it would've worked even better.

And the ever-present scavenger hunt for the Riddler crap was frustrating. It was a constant distraction from the game and not very fun, but if I didn't do it I felt like I was missing out, so it basically came down to a grind instead of enjoying the game.

In the end, it's a well crafted game with good visuals and a lot of features that aren't bad, but just didn't click with me and a protagonist/villain whom I dislike on the basis of personal taste. It isn't a badly made overrated crap like Oblivion or Crysis. It's a good game deserving of praise that I just didn't like.

EDIT: Oh and the cape! God I hated that cape! I get it, you've got a big black cape, can we move on now? Does it need to obscure half the screen and a good chunk of the action?

First off, before I respond, thank you. You are one of the people here who give me a reason to continue to come back. Instead of just bashing my response to you (even though rereading mine may have come off a tiny bit harsh) you replied in understanding (and proper grammar). Thank you.
The feeling is entirely mutual. Although I have been known to be a bit... defensive of Valve, so I hope I didn't just come across as a dick.

And I know what you mean about bad experiences putting you off a good game. Or even just mediocre experiences.

I hated Oblivion until I just gave it another shot, and found that I really enjoyed it.

You just blew my mind.

Was it good for you?
Indeed. Spread the word.

Bioshock. Nothing seemed particularly wrong about it. I just kept getting bored so fast that I stopped playing and eventually uninstalled it. There was just something about the narrative and thematic immersion that took an entirely interesting setting and made it into a sedative.

Mario Galaxy. I enjoyed it at first but found myself just not caring about half way through, not entirely sure why.
