I'm not sure how big it was but i really loved its storyline and i had to stop playing once i lost the stamina in my arms.
Any thoughts?
It was atrociously hard on anything above normal and automatic mode. Particularly the creepy math guy.
Indeed it was but i still did it.
It was my first week at Uni and all i had was my DS and that game.
My computer had died and the internet was going to be installed in around 2 weeks.
I was so bored during the day that i played it so much :)
Amazing game. If you're looking for a story that is so imaginative then this is the one for you :)
(None of this Fable bullshit - You're a boy and you are seeking revenge)

Team Buddies on the PS1, and Alien Hominid on PS2, XBOX, GC, and XBLA.
Hi 5, now man!!

Team Buddies! That game brings me back, waaay back! Ninja buddies, Medic buddies, annoying-yet-loveable Normal buddies, Commando buddies, cyborgs, super heros...baddies. Oh god, so much fun.

Sacrifice for the PC. It was a brilliantly written game that is responsible for many of the innovations Black&White gets credit for even though it came out several years before it.

oh holy crap, yes. that game was absolutely amazing! I just wish I would see more games like it, possibly with a better camera and definitely with an online battle mode!

does Shadows of the Colossus count? it was pretty well overlooked by the main stream but is known as the best damn game ever among those who HAVE played it. also, I submit Tribes 2 along the same lines as shadows. absolutely amazing multiplayer and yet it's never gotten above a cult classic following.

ACTUALLY obscure games? I remember a 7up game, an olympics game and a tiny toons game all for SNES that I loved at the time but I haven't played recently enough to know if they were actually good =P aside from that I can't say I've played any obscure games not already listed.

also, whoever suggested morrowind: you're an idiot. just saying.

Not sure if this qualifies but, Trackmania!

I have another one too but for the life of me I cannot think of the name and if anyone can guess from my terrible description please inform me. Basically a top-down racing game for the SNES, but the cars had weapons such as homing rockets and other stuff that sadly escapes me right now.

(Told you it would be a terrible description)

Anyone remember an old PC game called Ascendancy? One of my favorite games ever growing up. Where did it go?

Oh I have one more. Anyone remember Caveman Games (I think that was the name for the NES) It was like the olympics with cavemen and one of the events was throwing a woman by her hair? I would like to see them try and release that today...

I enjoyed Aquaria. It is a 2d fantisy underwater exploration game that came out in 2007. It has a unique spell casing system, interesting boss fights, and beautiful pixel art. It is playable with the mouse alone. You can almost feel the love the makers put into the game.

Klonoa: Door To Phantomile was an excellent PS1 platformer (and is one of my favourite 2D platformers) that was horrendously unnoticed, the gameplay was great, the visuals were beautiful and the soundtrack was amazing. It's being remade for the Wii, so make sure you snatch it up if you're a platformer fan.
Hey, I was playing that this afternoon. Possibly the most absurdly cute game I've ever played. And yeah, great fun.

Other fun but unnoticed games: Advent Rising, Beyond Good and Evil, Evil Genius, Freedom Force 1 + 2, Mafia, Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy and my all time favourite, Lula 3D.

Oh man, Sacrifice was weird. It was totally awesome though. The single-player campaign where you got to build up your army according to which gods you helped out was really clever.

This is really turning into a "Great games at a low price" thread, which is awesome. I'm going to also recommend Mafia. It was a PC game (may have been released for the Xbox as well) that was basically a 30s-style GTA, but with a stronger mission structure. Also, the car chase gun fights make way more sense than in GTA. Your character can point his gun in (more or less) any direction while driving, rather than strictly perpendicular to the car, and it's much less difficult to pull off. It's got a great story, and I'd bet the graphics still hold up to some degree. I think I've heard that a sequel is in development. If GTA is Scarface, Mafia is The Godfather.

The first I'm surprised at, but the later ones were a total pile of ass. Yeah, a great idea to make us immortal. Warioland was my first GB game, and still my favourite to date.

Red FAction on the PC. At the time, it was one of the more innovative FPS' out there, with the destructibility of nearly everything. The story was actually one of the few worthwhile ones that I'd seen at that point in time.

That, and Oni, any version. REALLY fun game, nothing groundbreaking nor amazing, just good ol' fashioned beat'em up.
