I dunno I thought it was more of a stale mate. Batman cancelled out the Joker.

OT: I can't think of a single movie where this happened. A good example of the idea is Dodgeball (like it or not) where Vince Vaughn originally gets hit and then the Credits rolled but they were forced to change it so the bad guy lost. That whole bit where Ben Stiller is talking about how it is kind of dumb how the hero won anyway and people were stupid to not accept that bad things can happen.

The Joker actually won overall. He corrupted Gotham's figurehead and turned him into a chance-obsessed psychopath who murdered people at the toss of a coin. He also transformed the city's love of Batman into hate, and forced Batman to take responsibility for killing Harvey Dent, effectively turning a superhero into a wanted murderer.

Although I was rooting for Gerrard Butler in Law Abiding Citizen.
I'm with you on that one. I usually root for the guy with the complicated plans, regardless of whether he's "good" or "bad". Which is which of those terms can be rather ambiguous.

OT: Can't think of any of the top of my head. There is They (a 2002 movie), where the protagonist certainly does not win. However, I don't know if you can speak of it as winning or losing when speaking of the antagonistic opponent. On a somewhat related note, They is the only movie that has ever given me nightmares. But, to be fair, I watched it when I was 9 years old or so.

Watchmen is the only one I can come up with
I thought Rorshack (I have no idea how to spell that) won, seeing as his diary or what it was (been a while since I saw it) was found by the guy I don't remember who is, and thus it is insinuated that the story will be known to the world. Correct me if I'm wrong, it's been a while since I've watched it.

Watchmen is a big one.

I can think of a few where the good guys lose, but at the moment, thats the only one I can think of where the bad guys win.

Tho I wish Sauron had won in LOTR. Not Saruman, who was a little *****, but Sauron. He was a beast, and he and the witch king were my two favorite characters out of everybody in those movies!

Most Michael Moore films. ;)

Well, okay, "great movies" excludes all political documentaries.

Actually, I'd say most Miyazaki [http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/people.php?id=51] films. He has a tendency to wave a happy ending out of the bad guys winning.

Uphame was just not cut out for war...

Cabin Fever. It all depends on who the ;real' bad guy is. Are the bad guy the cops, the hillbillies, or the virus? The hillibilles lost, the cops at first but then will eventually lose. But the virus, nothing can stop the virus.

Rorschach sends his diary to a newspaper. They need something to fill the paper with, something stupider from a read to fill up a slot. Whether or not they actually pick up his diary and run with it is a mystery.

If they do, the new world built up by Ozymandias will crumble and everything will have been for nothing as the world slips back into war.

If they don't, the bad guy wins in creating world peace.

No one knows what happens. Kinda adds to the ambiguity of the ending and whether or not it Ozy's actions were justified.
