If anyone asked me this question years ago, I probably would have said something like Snake Eater.

But now, I can say that "The Best Is Yet To Come", when played on Shadow Moses on Metal Gear Solid 4, really hits you hard. When it first played, I sat there in the snow just listening. That whole level was both nostalgic and very, very sad.

The Black Mages version of One Winged Angel was badass on Advent Children. Actually, a lot of Final Fantasy songs are just truly amazing. The Dark Messenger (FFIX), The Man With The Machine Gun (FFVIII), and pretty much most of the Crisis Core soundtrack.

Although, never put in any video game, the best video game song covers are done by Powerglove. Search your feelings, you know this to be true.

But the greatest song ever would have to be Stardust, from the Atari game Lazy Jones [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/1/15/David_Whittaker_-_Lazy_Jones.ogg]. Sounds familiar? You've probably heard the Zombie Nation remix, Kernkraft 400 [http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/08/Zombie_Nation_-_Kernkraft_400.ogg]

Scars of Time (the theme to Chrono Cross) is hands down the finest piece of music I've heard in a game.

I will forever remember this as this hardest Stepmania song in existence. Well, the remix.

"Still Alive" is great, but novelty songs are only so good. It was cute for awhile, now it's just annoying.
The best song I have heard was Faunts' "M4, Pt. II" at the end of Mass Effect. I squeezed every second out of the game on the hardest difficulty (excluding the unlocked one), on my first playthrough. This was when I was less of a serious gamer, so I felt like I earned the credits... and this song made the credits worth sitting through.
This sort of explains why "Still Alive" doesn't provide the thrill for me it does others... you don't really earn it, the game isn't terribly long, difficult, etc. However, the radio/salsa mix is amazing.

The intro movie from Duke Nukem: Time To Kill ( PS1... very old... surprisingly not that terrible of a game ) used to get me really pumped ... stabbing westward is a bit dated now ... but 10 years ago this intro/game/song was pretty bad ass ... *memories*

You're right; I loved the Mass Effect ending song - it made me feel like it was an end to a film, and I love games with professional credit endings because they just look that much more better.
