My mother (who is in her 60's now) will play pretty much any 'puzzle game' right now she comes over and plays puzzle fighter II on the ps3 and trounces her grandchildren (My nieces and nephews) frequently.

My dad?

Well, in I'd say 1985 or 86 when I was quite little I remember him playing the Original Super Mario Bros with me and some of my brothers. He got to be luigi because we all liked Luigi better and wanted to impress dad.
He walked foreward for about three seconds promptly walking into a goomba on the first level and lost a life.
His second attempt we informed him he'd have to jump on it. He walked up to that same goomba jumped straight up and down and landed right in front of it's path and he lost a life.
We then told him he has to 'move while jumping' he then jumped far too early and his arc ended with him landing in front of the goomba he then lost hiis final life.
My dad was than greeted with a game over screen. He said "Oh the hell with this" and dropped the NES controller on the ground and left the room.
I have not seen him attempt video-gaming since.

Watching my mother play Wario-ware was pretty amusing. My parents are too dull to really get into gaming. They insist it's silly, and then go back to watching deal or no deal...

"Hey Steve."
"Yeah?"
"Can I get you to go & get some mil- is that man being cut in half?"

That's about the closest I've got to a gaming experience with my parents.
I'm sitting there, playing Aliens vs. Predator. My dad walks in.

Dad: Hey Bernie, can I get some help with the dishes?
Me: Yeah, sure. I'll be there in a minute or so.
*I proceed to distract a Marine with the "Come on out, ************." message the Predator uses*
Dad: ......so, as I was saying, I'll need help soon as I'm running out of room.
Moi: Yeah, as I said, be out in a minute or so.
*I rip the Marine's skull and spinal column out through his chest, and then stroke it*
Dad: ...*sigh*
Yours Truly: ...what?

My mum used to love watching me play CoD:MW, Portal, Fable 2 etc (anything that looks really nice) but then she went one step further and asked me one day if I could teach her how to play Assassin's Creed. I was shocked and delighted. And for a first time gamer at the age of 56, she was damn good too!

When I was five or so, my Dad and I used to play Worms on the Sega together. I used to trick him by saying "Dad! If you make your worms go into the water you get secret powers for them!". He would then go into the water and die, then he'd laugh and say "You tricked me again!".

I of course wasn't tricking him, but he played along and at the time I thought I was so clever. I'd do it over and over again until all his worms were dead. It's my only real memory of my Dad, and it's a great memory.

The house I lived in until I was a teenager didn't have electricity except in the winter. So yeah... video games weren't even on my parents' radar.

Bwahahaha. I can totally see your dad doing that. This explains a lot.

Gah. I don't think I have any good memories of gaming with my parents. Just today my mother said that watching me play Assassin's Creed 2 was more boring than watching paint dry.
