I made a thread like this a few months ago for another story I had made, and now I have a new one, and I want suggestions.

Basically, make me up some grim reapers. These are some conditions:

1.Grim reapers are people who have died, so make up a way they died. Make it as strange as possible, but still realistic.
2. You CAN give them an actual name, but they forget it anyway and take on another code name. It must be a Greek mythological or famous name (The main one is Eris, and one Aristole for Aristotle).
3. Give them a symbol. The grim reaper is referenced in that way (EX. Skull Reaper Eris, and her symbol is skulls). Skulls and stars are taken.
4. Give them a weapon. Grim reapers reap by using that weapon on you to take your soul, and then that person dies. Beretta M9 pistols and bow and arrows are taken.
5. Make them bad and good. If you were good, you went to heaven, hell if you were bad. If you were in the middle, you became a grim reaper.
6. Give them a design. They can be whatever age. They can have whatever kind of personality, but again make them realistic. Aside from that, make them as messed up as possible. For all I care, make a 20-year-old woman a sex and Meth addict.

That's it! You don't have to do ALL of the conditions, but give me suggestions on each of them. I'll point out this is an anime-like story. You can use pictures to give me an idea.

P.S. If you want, make some other non-grim reaper characters. But I mostly need grim reapers.

This sounds like fun.

My reaper is named Mirg(a purposeful reverse of Grim). I note that you stated they should have Greek mythological names, in that case his name would be Pan.

He is mostly laid back, however he cannot stand gore and pain, and thus is deeply afraid of death.

This lead to his downfall, as his attempts to avoid death(or at least what he perceived to be) lead him to desperation. He eventually committed suicide as a last act of controlling his own fate and beating the reaper(this in in reference to his own instability and refers more to the concept of a reaper, not any particular character).

As a reaper himself he remains calm and laid back in most situations, but still dislikes pain, gore and suffering. This may lead him to interfere where people would not normally have died(by attempting to avoid them even getting hurt) or to avoid doing his job as a reaper as he doesn't want to get involved in death.

What kind of visual style to these reapers use? do they wear the usual grim black cloaks and skull masks, or do they just hang out in casual?

If they follow the traditional grim reaper imagery, then he would wear a cloak of inverted colours, so that would be a white scraggy cloak and a black skull mask.

Otherwise, he wears a white jacket(which is a size to big for him) over a black shirt, and baggy pants.

His weapon is his bare hands, not in a badass way, more of in a "He can't do much" way. With does well with his character flaws, as he does't really want to touch a dead(or injured) person to collect their souls, and yet he must do it with his hands.

I can't come up with a good symbol for him right now, I'll take suggestions and edit this post later if I come up with anything.

His symbol would be a music note. His weapon would be his father's S&W model 10. His name would be Apollo, god of music.

His real name was Johann. He lived quietly in small flat in Stockholm. He was 27, a college dropout, and poor. He worked some generic, dead-end job that he hated. He had no friends, save the violin he had received on his twelfth birthday. He played that violin as much as he could, because the melody was all he had. His parents had died some time ago; his died mother in a car accident when he was 7, his cop father was shot by some thug during a routine traffic stop when he was 12.

He shot himself with his father's old revolver out of sheer loneliness. His suicide note asked that he be buried with the violin and the revolver, having sold all his other possessions to pay for a burial. Upon becoming a reaper and realizing that his loneliness would last forever, he left his violin in his grave so that it would not have to endure the torment with him.

He wouldn't be a bad-looking fellow. Bit emaciated from living so poorly, but sort of cute all the same. I imagine he'd make for a mildly distracting romance sub-plot at some point.

Cheers.

Most of the grim reapers wear a long trench coat over their choice of clothes. However, the main reaper wears the school uniform, so you're not required to wear the coat. It just has most of your important things for reaping, like the pouches to hold souls.

I have a questions: how old was he when he died?

Oh, I forgot to mention that when you become a grim reaper, you can make amends for your faults, which can send you to heaven. If you're a horrible grim reaper( not necessarily bad at collecting souls), you can be sent to hell. If you were truly a good reaper, you may be brought back to life, but if there are any people that knew you when you were alive and they're still alive, your appearance may change a bit, along with your name. But if nobody you knew is alive, you'd look the same-your name would still change.

I'd put him in his mid-twentys. He could be younger, but any older than that and his character and choice of clothing would start to be out of place.

I like it. Do you mind if I change the code name? Apparently Deimos is the spirit of fear, dread, and terror, and that fits the description you put.

Bob Roberts, died of a whale attack, signature weapon is a hairdryer from Japan, symbol is a faaaaabulous haircut. Age...whatever, if it's so necessary then he's 99999 years, 4 months, 12 days old.

Why is it that you're wanting grim reapers again?

This is going to be one hell of a story, if you can pull it off I'll pay top dollar for the adventures of ghost Elvis and Rob the flamboyant haircutter.

I'll help you out by giving you one of my stock characters, and slightly twisting it so she's effectively the 'personal guardian' Reaper/lover of another of my stock characters, who I usually pair together anyway in my own stories.

Her real name is Niamh O'Connor, an Irish girl aged 20 who was born in Wexford and travelled to the UK to study film-making at university. Very much a creative type, more artsy than anything. Not a goth but appreciates the clothing style, so she tends to dress in a mix of an indie/arty/gothic way, she has long black hair and is fairly petite and slim, and more cute than hot. She plays guitar and keyboard/piano/etc. and also sings, and she's something of an artist, actress and and aspiring film-maker too. She has a small band with her best friend/boyfriend Rob, though she did technically steal him away from another of their friends a while ago (to be fair he was already in love with Niamh, more so than his original girlfriend). She's openly bisexual and had a brief relationship with a female friend before starting things with Rob.

That backstory is pretty much the character as she appears in my own short stories. Here, then, is how she would be as a Reaper.

Name: Niamh O'Connor.
Codename: Luna.
Symbol: Wolf head.
Weapon: Crossbow.
Death: She died in an accident at the joint bar/coffee shop her ex-girlfriend co-owned with another friend, whilst playing a minor gig with Rob. The espresso machine overheated and caught fire, which soon spread thanks to the liquor bottles (whisky, Bailey's, brandy, etc.) nearby, and caused the entire store to go up in flames. Pretty much everyone people got out alright, but a few audience members, and Niamh, were killed by smoke inhalation.
Design: See spoiler box.
Good/bad traits: For good, she's generally a likeable person and down-to-earth. She's loyal to her friends and family, though with a slight tendency to do the right thing at her own expense as long as her friends are happy (it takes months before she has the nerve to break up with her girlfriend and actually pursue Rob romantically). She cares about her art and music deeply, and always maintains a level of artistic integrity. She also works hard in her studies and really strives to achieve whatever she sets out to do.

However, she does have a jealous streak that clouds her judgement sometimes, and she can be quite mean and spiteful when annoyed. She has a minor tendency for sadism and for minor sociopathy, including hesitating to act when faced with the attempted suicide of Rob's girlfriend. She is also quite stubborn and can sometimes, though rarely, be a bit arrogant, and she often refuses to accept that she's in the wrong about something until the point has been argued down completely.

Oh, and as all of my stock characters do, she smokes weed, and has something of a taste for whisky (if she can afford it, otherwise regular alcohol will do fine), though she loathes other drugs with a passion. That could be 'good' or 'bad' depending on your view ('good' to me) so I'll leave it for you to decide...

Name: Linda Johnson
Symbol: Martini Glass
Weapon: Rolling pin/Frying pan. Maybe additionally she can take pins out of her hair and chuck them at people.
Death: Linda was a great mother, homemaker, and overall flawless 1950s housewife for her husband Ted and their two children Tommy and Mary. Although cheery and idyllic on the outside, Linda felt unfulfilled in her role as mother and housemaid and had crippling bouts of depression. One minute she'd be making her daughter a sandwich for school, the next she'd be yelling her into a corner over a pair of socks that got left on the floor. Linda finally OD'd sitting at the kitchen table on a combination of sleeping pills and vodka while a casserole cooked in the oven and her son Tommy played in the next room over.

ps- Creating your own characters will be endlessly more fulfilling than getting people to make them for you on an internet forum. If you come up with your own concepts you'll understand them better, feel more connected them as your creations, write them better, and you'll get practice coming up with motivated and flawed (in other words, interesting) characters.
If someone else makes up your characters for you... you're just writing fanfiction.

Also, shouldn't they just be "reapers" instead of "Grim Reapers"? I thought "Grim Reaper" was like the Grim Reaper - like how Dracula is a vampire but not all vampires are Dracula.
