For me I love both the saint rows AND!!! the GTA series. I'm not going to pick one over the other especially when the latter will take maybe year if not more to come out while the former is out next month.

If a series is good and consistently so then why not release more games for it especially if that's what a lot of the fans of the series want?

I like both the GTA games and the Saints Row games, and don't think either series needs a "revive."

Yeah, I thought it was doing fine. Considering Rockstar has money-baths and all.
I don't think it does. All they need is to do is make a game that is fun to play (take GTA:SA for example) rather than a pool of mud (GTA4). I don't think they are competing with Saints Row 3 particularly because it will probably be released considerably later.

Reviving? Whaaa-? Its only been three years, so there will be around 4 years between GTA IV's release and GTA V, meaning that its the same gap between San Andreas and IV. Its like saying that Bethesda are "reviving" The Elder Scrolls because Oblivion was released 5 years ago. Rockstar and Bethesda kind of take their time with these things, instead of turning them into the same sort of annual franchises that COD fanboys seem to think everything should be.

Side note: GTAIV and SR2 were released in the same year, and if you count Episodes From Liberty City as a game there would be less of a time gap between games as there is in Saints Row.

Um...what the fuck does Saints Row 3 have to do with GTA5? SR3 comes out very, very soon. GTA5 is just now being ANNOUNCED. It will be a year before we even see it. I'm sure everyone will have moved on from SR3 by then.
speak for yourself buddy, im still playing coop saints row 2 with a buddy, and its just as fun and hilarious as it was when it came out, i think Saints row 3 will be fun for years, provided you take some breaks from playing it
Oh, my bad. I forgot to account for statistical outliers.

I'm not doubting that there will be people playing SR3 for years and years, but it won't be MOST people. Most people will have stopped playing it and will play dozens of other games between the release of SR3 and GTA5.
lol, sorry i didnt mean to come off as a douche, but SR3 will be fucking amazing

They shouldn't let the negative press about LA Noire stop them from moving in different directions.
Negative press??? Just about everyone and everything I read sang its praises, from the inventive and daring system of the slow noiristic detective novel to the facial expression system to driving around a near flawless recreation of 1950's Los Angeles... I heard nothing but critical praise from all over. Unfortunately it just didn't SELL well... or maybe it did, I don't know, seems to me that it did well enough?
I'm pretty sure that L.A Noire is one of the year's top selling games.

Did well in the UK at least. [http://www.metro.co.uk/tech/games/864124-l-a-noire-becomes-fastest-selling-new-ip-ever-in-uk-games-charts]

The rest of the world too. [http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/2011/08/08/la-noire-at-4-million/]

Revive? It's been only three years. Three years is more than acceptable length for a developement cycle. And competition from Saint's Row 3? Isn't that game coming out like... very soon? Wherein GTA V trailer was just announced. Look, I didn't like GTA 4, but you're just pulling this stuff out of your butt.

Also, I like bolding things.

I enjoyed GTA IV a lot. I also enjoyed the Saint's Row series, but it seems kinda unfair to bring it up whenever GTA is mentioned (and vise versa).

I actually never played GTA 3, Vice City, or San Adreas. I was too young (and too scared) to play those games. Other than IV, the only GTA game I played was Liberty City Stories on the PSP, and that was also my first M-rated game. I loved IV, and I quite honestly don't get the hate. Sure, it's not as wacky as SR or its predecesors, I still had tons of fun with it, and I thought the story and characters were great. And seeing how I also loved RDR, I am really looking forward to GTA V.

And I don't think it needs a "revival", especially seeing how well GTA IV did.

Since the OP decided that his personal opinion is better than facts as the basis of argument and discussion.

This is just... it's like asking "can Nintendo pull off a new Mario game now that platform game x is coming out with a sequel?" Yes... of course they can. It's a huge franchise and a big name. Why wouldn't it work? Sadly, game companies only tend to crash and burn when they decide to try something totally new.

So in the first thread about it, everyone hates GTA, because of IV, as it was beyond boring.
In this thread, noone seems to see a problem?

GTA IV had its features, i appreciated them... TV, comedy performances, bowling... very, very impressive.
Bottom line. It was a boring game.

All i wanted to do the entire time is play GTA:SA again... well, that and go 'round to the houses of the majority of the online community and burn them down.

There is?

Are you sure about that?

I hope not, I used to love GTA games.
It was really overused last gen but it kept getting better so nobody minded.
GTA isn't really overused but I kind of feel like Liberty City was overused. It wasn't that interesting in gta4 and the dlc packs added nothing to it even though they really should have... especially for the $20 price.
