I didn't like 4 enough to warrant any sort of emotion at the announcement of 5. I do like the tone I'm seeing in the trailers.

If GTA V manages to get close to the feeling of San Andreas with it's various different things to do and find while including a well crafted atmosphere, tight action sequences and the fun of sandbox freedom, then the might have the best game in recent years. Ofcourse that remains debatable as there are other genres too but where sandbox games are concerned, I hope that they'll deliver this time. I also found it tedious to haul your mates for a hamburger/whatever and the fact that it was a forced thing to do made it even more tedious. Minigames are fine but they shouldn't be imposed upon the player so I hope that they improve that feature. Even nowadays I still find GTA IV and EFLC fun to play alone or online if there are other people to play with. There's a nice feeling that lack a bit content but the general idea of freedom (EFLC) is a very good thing :)

The release date is the 17th of September. And hell yes I'm excited, mainly for the multiplayer though. I wanna do me some co-op free roam. That shit is the best.
Hell yeah it was! Can't find any normal free roam games online anymore though :/
Its all friendly fire off rocket launcher fests in the airport Dx

OT: I've been playing GTA since the first top down one! Hell I still remember the cheat code for getting everything. HANGTHEDJ at the character name screen.

I'm for GTA V. Imma get dat multiplayer on, cruise around, blowin crap up and sometimes turf warring with other players and I'm excited for the story (I always liked the story in the GTA games from 3 onwards shuddup!) and the setting. If I had the money it'd be a day 1 purchase!

People are gonna laugh at me, but I played all 4 3D GTA games to date (episodes included) for the story. It looks terrific and if it has a cool gangster/cop story, I won't care that it's as clunky as IV. It should at least be optimized a little and not consume so much guddamn resources.

That's a perfectly valid reason to play a game/those games you mentioned. You're also right on the resource consumption. Rockstar's games don't run well on an older system but they run just fine F.e. on mine although this doesn't have the latest components. I just hope that they won't raise the bar again for GTA V as Max Payne 3 had quite steep requirements but the game still runs well even on multiplayer and looks absolutely beautiful and plays well too. At least I don't have anything to complain about it but I'm not a specialist and a HC player in the FPS genre :) I do have one negative thing to say about that game and it's the absolute linearity of the story and lack of any sidemissions. Seems to me a bit lazy not to include any of those but the hame is heavily story-driven so perhaps this is the way such games are made... is it?

I picked up GTA4 based on the constant perfect score reviews and extreme praise.
Unfortunately the game was terrible. I got bored within a few hours and forced myself to play for about 20 hours more.
Within the second week of the games launch I sold it to a buddy who was going to buy it anyways.

GTA just isn't my franchise I guess.
Mafia, inFamous, and Batman work as sandbox games but GTA doesn't do it for me.
The issue is controls.

Based on my previous experience, no amount of 10's or GOTY awards could get me to buy GTA5.

dont worry thoff09.. im still a believer in the GTA series, i really enjoyed gta4 and did not mind the realism. its still had class and felt better to play and had way better characters then saints row 2, people just felt like basic ragdolls models actions in SR2, every cop i killed i felt no weight in what i was doing. just a bunch of hollow dolls.

now since there is going to be more SR fans on this thread, even though the thread was just about the GTA5. im prepared for the criticism im going to get and having to explain my self further

Watched all the promo stuff.
They took the worst city of San Andreas, remade it in GTA 4 and added some pre-rendered animation.
sorry, not sold.

When it comes out and only IF its not the fiasco that GTA 4 was ill get it. Fool me once shame on you, Fool me twice shame on me.

Absolutely not actually I am dreading it as its probably all we will hear about for weeks after its release no doubt it will be lauded as the greatest game ever for a while and then die like 3, vice city, san andreas and IV.

I bought 3 on release and was bitterly dissapointed I just couldnt believe how dull it was I played Vice city and it was better but still not enough for me to buy it and as for 4 holy hell it controls bloody awful as well and the art style makes it look like good games do when I play them while heavily drunk and cant focus or see properly.

GTA is fun for about 20 minutes or so but after that it fails to engage me on any level and to be honestI dont think that will change for V. In fact the only rockstar game that I have enjoyed is the table tennis game surprisingly even if it did get old quick.

Even though I didn't like GTA IV as much as the ones before that I'm still very excited for GTA V. Don't get me wrong, IV it wasn't a bad game, it just was a bad GTA game. Luckily Saint's Row filled the gap of ridiculous nonsense (maybe a bit too much in Saint's Row the Third ^^).

I had a lot of fun with every GTA game, and from what I gathered from preview material, GTA V will solve a lot of the problems GTA IV had. But the major draw of GTA games for me has always been the great open cities. I'm pretty sure they nailed that again this time. So yeah, had it on pre-order for over a year now. :)

I just hope the first half of the game will not be just tutorials like in GTA IV. IV had just too much features that were not necessary or fun. Not to mention the cars handling like they're made of depleted uranium.

No, but Lego City Undercover looks the shit, yo!
Yeah, another free roam game that looks mighty fine. I`m usually not a Lego game buyer, this could be my first. Hopefully it`s enough gangsta and keeps throwing around f-bombs like candy.

I'm pretty excited, though (correct me if I haven't been paying attention well enough o.o)there is no PC version planned, which is the platform I prefer to play GTA games on, specifically for awesome modding communities. But other than that, it's always a nice thing to see my father get so excited over a game. My dad got me into gaming at a young age, but really, he has a rather small collection of games. He's had his PS3 since 2007, and he only has about 8 games for the thing, one of them obviously being GTAIV. He couldn't stress enough how upset he'd be if they delayed GTAV from it's original Spring release date, and behold, they did XD He wasn't too happy about it, but like me he'd rather they took that time to make the game even better anyway.

No, ask me again if they announce it on PC. I just hope if it does come to PC i wont have to take my cousin/brother/girlfriend/friend out to keep them happy like last time.
HEY COUSIN, IS YOUR COUSIN! LET'S GO BOWLING!

I bought GTA IV twice. First on PS3, then on PC when I built a rig that could handle it. I'm doing the same again, only with 360 instead, as most of my friends play on 360 and I want to be able to enjoy the mad multiplayer with them! I probably won't really play the story on 360, I'll just wait for the PC release.

You know, I'm not really sure why everyone hated IV so much. Once you got used to it, and started looking a little deeper, all the silliness of the other games was there to be found. Just not in the story.

The Lost and Damned remains one of my favourite games of all time.

Strangely, I've never looked forward to a new GTA game, even though I end up pleasantly surprised each time.

I liked IV but once you've played through it once you get bored of everyone calling to hang out.

Playing Saints Row confirmed my suspicions that GTA has become far too serious and gritty to be enjoyable anymore outside of doing a murder rampage here and there. The story is no doubt of more substance than SR, but I'll never find out because it doesn't motivate me enough to want to complete it.
