In GTA5, You play as an Italian Gang Leader, Tommy Vercetti (Depicted by Ray Loita's monologue) somewhere from 1989 - 2000 which given you're in San Andreas, my guess is 1992 after the events of the original game.

Tommy Vercetti has moved to Los Santos to relax after many years in Vice City to retire from his history of crime. However the local gangs don't like the sound of The Vercetti Gang's leader moving on to their turf and so a war begins which ultimately ends in his reputation being flattened and being beaten and psychologically tortured. They leave him left for dead and broke but Tommy who after months of recuperation and sheer will to never give up, climbs back to the top, exacting revenge on those who left his empire in shambles and killing nearly everyone he knew and loved.

With the help of his lovable sidekick, Cousin Mike who is making ends meet driving buses all day, help Tommy in becoming The King of Vinewood.

You know what the most important conclusion is from this trailer? The game will have colour!!!

Though a shame that it isn't Vice City.

Wait, wasn't it said in San Andreas that Vercetti was dead? I'm pretty sure he's gone.

The trailer looked nice, I'm just hoping that it's all of San Andreas and not just Los Santos. There seemed to be a lot of countryside though, which is nice.

It's good to be going back to San Andreas again! Hopefully this new GTA era will take us to an updated version of Vice City, and a few new areas in their universe, as opposed to the GTA4 era (which I liked), which stayed solidly in Liberty City.

Love that planes are back, and hope to see a few animals in it (Dogs in gardens, Bears in the woods, Raccoons in the trash, etc).

No announcement for which systems it is? No approximate release date?

The graphics are exactly the same as GTA IV. After such a long time between each game that's just disappointing.

Really? Take a look at Vice City screens and compare (as much as you can compare two triangles to a pile of them) young Vercetti with old.

Even if it was mentioned, series' retcon all the time, we certainly didn't see it.

Plus looking at the other guys, definitely seems to be a CJ in there too.

Meh, i dunno. I think at this point what GTA had going for it over Saints Row was the realism. Part of the appeal of gta4 was NYC. Without that, going back to 'random made up city' i honestly don't see it being any better than SR3, if even that.

They're returning to San Andreas in GTA V? My interest in the game suddenly went from "I couldn't care less about this shit." to "Hmm..". San Andreas is my favourite GTA. I never cared much for the others, but at the same time I don't think they'll beat SR3.

I'm still not quite sure what the main character looks like, but doh well, the rest of the trailer looks pretty cool. Not as grey and brown as GTA IV, which is kinda nice for a change. At least one developer takes Yathzee's commentary at heart. But I think it's just LA and outskirts, not the entirity of San Andreas, that would just be too big.

I don't get what you're saying. Why is GTAV doing away with the realism? The city portrayed here is very clearly Los Angeles(San Andreas), not some 'random made up city'. Just like Liberty City is clearly NYC.

You realize there is room for the GTA's and Saint's Rows? One doesn't have to be better than the other. They may be in the same genre, but they are fundamentally very different games.

Have a look at the section "Life after 1986". It gives mention that Vercetti DID in fact move to San Andreas.

I'm afraid I don't see the similarities between Vercetti and the man in the trailer, but you might be right. Maybe they did a retcon.

You saw a CJ in there? I totally missed that, where?
