I'm agree that's probably what motivated them, they had a story idea and went with. I think I came off too critical of GTA. I enjoyed the game. I don't think it's a bad game for not having a female protagonist. I just think it was a missed opportunity to be even better.Ezekiel said:I think they didn't do a female protagonist mostly because they didn't want to, not so much because of the fans. Perhaps Dan Houser just wants manly games with manly men. I guess people ask this question because there have been like ten protagonists in the series, all men. But all male crews are pretty common in crime movies. Nobody asks why all the main characters in Heat (which may have inspired GTA V and the bank job in IV) are men, because it doesn't matter. I'd like a female protagonist, but I'm not gonna criticize them for not indulging me. They should use their best judgement, looking at the game in question as an independent thing, instead of inserting a female protagonist just to break the chain.WolfThomas said:Back on female protagonist. I just don't know why they didn't do in GTA V. The 3 person perspective is the safest way of launching a female characters. People who might complain of playing a female still have the other 2 males to fall back on.
They have competent female criminals in the series. Paige Harris the Hacker (who turns up more in the Online segment) and Talia Martinez the getaway driver (which no is going to not use with her 4-5% cut and mad skillz). Both are a pretty good step up from Catalina who was...well unhinged is the politest term.
