I can't help but take some sadistic pleasure in looking forward to this game's release. Partly because a lot of people have been hyping this with the usual new MMO hype (i.e. killing WoW, changing the face of MMOs forever). Therefore I will enjoy it when GW2's flaws present themselves and it topples from the ridiculously high pedestal people have set it on, and onto a perfectly good midpoint ledge.
All that nastiness said, I honestly am quite interested in trying it at some point, alas I financially destitute at this point in time so purchasing on release is out of the question. Hopefully I'll be able to get it for Christmas.
Nothing will kill WoW. The same people who talk about GW2 or any other game "killing WoW" are the people who think the benchmark for MMO success is 10 million subs.
If GW2 can settle at around 400,000-500,000 players it will be a tremendous success, and as it has no sub fee I think it has a fair chance to do that.
It is not, however, going to be all things to all people. It's definitely still an MMO, and not without flaws. But it's nicely made MMO with much to recommend it, and that hasn't often been the case over the last 4-5 years, where many an MMO has launched content light, feature poor, or half finished. Or, in some notable cases, all three.

I've been considering getting this for awhile now and am happy to see it finally getting a release date. If I play I'll probably go Mesmer. Illusionists ftw.
Mesmers need a lot of work. As do Engineers. I'm hopeful by the time BWE3 rolls around in late July that both classes will have received a much needed re-imagining.
