With the upcoming Guild Wars 2 beta, with Norn's, Human's and Charr in it will all classes (sadly Sylvari nor Asura are in the beta.)

What do you plan on doing first?

Since my main character in full release will be Human Warrior (don't care if mundane,) I will most likely be playing the Norn Race, maybe Rouge or Engie for the beta.

dont Betas normally have NDAs that make talking about them, and what you did/are going to do in them illegal?

It was mention on GW2 Facebook that the NDA is no longer apply to the upcoming beta (something about being a open beta or something like that). EDIT- Here's the lnik saying it's a open beta so it's not bound to the NDA http://www.arena.net/blog/the-beta-weekend-event-is-coming

Well my plan was to play all 8 professions however due to unforeseen circumstance (I was planning to watch The Avengers on Thursday but now I'm watching it on Saturday instead) I will try to play most of them starting the professions I want to play the most (Thief, Necromancer, Mesmer, Warrior, Ranger and maybe Engineer.

Trying to play all 8 is a large feat so I can only really spend around 3 hours per characters (I'm not too hardcore to stay up all night). Yeah I wouldn't get far into the game but my main intention is to get a feel for each professions so that way once the game is out I will be confortable playing the profession I liked without any doubt of choosing the other instead. I can make up for the lack of adventuring once they hold another beta at end of May.

Anyway at the beta openning I going to make a human thief first than a Charr Nercomancer, Norn warrior and after that I will just mix it up abit.

Do I need to pre-order to play Guild Wars 2 or does it just guarantee me a spot in the beta?

You have to Pre-purchase the game to be given the beta code. Pre order doesn't grant you access to the beta but it does give you a day start before it's release (however for Pre-purchasing it you will be given 3 days start instead).
Also the upcoming beta isn't a one time only as they will release another beta at the end of each month until its official release.

Human/Norn Ranger, and if I have time, I'd like to sniff around the Thief and Engineer as well. Girlfriend will likely be playing with the character creator all weekend.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
As much as I want to play gw2 I think I'm gonna skip the beta, I want to have a fresh experience when the game launches, I played the beta of aion and that got my hopes up in a way that turned out to be unrealistic plus when the game really came out, it was kind of a pain going though the starting area again. But then again aion only had 2 starting areas and only one path though them both

This really goes without saying. Of course there'll be a lot of bug-reporting and I'm sure everyone knows that's what the purpose of betas are.

OT: But as for what I'll mostly be doing, I'll be enjoying a great new, innovative MMO experience with my lover who also pre-purchased Guild Wars 2. We're going to be rocking it out on our Guardian/Ranger combo for a good deal of it and then our Mesmer/Engineer combo. I plan on trying a little bit from each of the three races we're allowed to play as and you can get that I'll be doing a lot of exploring and getting together with old friends to start planning out our guild.

I really hope that this game can bring most of what it promises to the table and if it does, I'll be so damn happy.

I will probably be looking for references to the original games lore and what has happened in-between the games.

Most people dismiss it but GW1 actually had a surprisingly good amount of background lore for many of the things in it.

You will be able to find them, and the two GW books out that take place before GW2 (one of them basically ends minutes before GW2 begins) are quite good for lore. Lots of the characters in the books are in the game and you can even visit the places the characters were.

I'm gonna try the Norn thief, I reckon. Gonna roll human necro as my main but I want to see the good ol' Shiverpeaks in their updated splendour and want to try one of the new classes. Already had the chance to play as a guardian at Eurogamer (also there's a miniboss that I owe a good thrashing...) and had a great time with it, so that'll probably be my second character.

Going to roll a Melee Mesmer Charr
Then a Melee Elementalist Charr
Then a Ranged Warrior Charr

I'm basically going to go Charr and think of crazy combinations of class.
Oh an of course report all bugs I find.
Then I'll get pissed off at the server being full. The server crashing. Then when it finishes get excited for the next beta event.
Kind of like Rift Beta events, but with this Fanboyness will shield me from flaws if there are any WHICH THERE WON'T.

I'm gonna be spending the weekend in WvW to try out various professions and builds, save the PVE surprises for release

Not play it.

Not because I don't want to mind you, but I don't think characters carry over, so no point, plus I dislike playing Betas, I'll play the finished product thanks.

That and I have a lot of work to do, along with Tera early access if I even manage to finish said work.

Captcha: Act of god, yep, I'll certainly be needing one.

I am well aware of that, I already have a few unlocked.. but what does that have to do with beta in the slightest? Unless you thought I meant original characters carrying over. Which I don't.

I mean beta characters, they get wiped at the end of the beta, so playing is pointless for me, since I play MMOs for the persistent world.

EDIT: I think someone had a derp.
