Well, I haven't gone as far as to read fanfics or roleplaying it; but I have certainly read a lot of it.

Come to think of it; I should probably get around to finish reading it.
It's hard to find good fics and I just use a OC with the characters and my friends.
I... don't know what OC is.
Original Content?
Original Character, it's just silly stuff we do. :D

So you roleplay as characters that aren't featured in the comic?

Body wash. I have a collection of the stuff that currently contains over 120 bottles, and I never use the same one two showers in a row.

Sometimes when I'm feeling particularly down, I like to watch Caramelldansen... V_V *blushes and hangs head in shame*
Here it is, if you dare...
I just can't watch the video without falling off my chair laughing... ^^

Other than that, I don't think I have any guilty pleasures.

Music:
Mika - This guy is everything I normally hate hate in music. Pure, sugary, dance friendly bubblegum-radio-pop. Yet despite that I can't help but loving him, I can't seem to figure out why either ^^

Meat Loaf - Yeah I know he's ridiculous and even then he hasn't done anything decent since the early '90s. But dammit! Cheesy awesome is awesome too!

Movies:
Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones - No matter how much people convince me that they are cinematic catastrophes and no matter how much I tell myself I have accepted that they suck, I still can't really be angry at them. They have been a huge part of my childhood and looking back on how obsessed I was with them, I really can't change opinion, it would be a betrayal of... something, I don't know ^^

Underworld and Underworld: Evolution - There's this guy, and he's like a werewolf/vampire hybrid so he's like really strong, and then there's this evil (like, really evil) vampire that can like grow wings and turn into like a super saiyan vampire and they fight and stuff and the Kate Beckinsale vampire wears this really se.. I'm sorry, what did you say about plot?

TV:
Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Yes, the new one with the tween jedi padawan. I seem to have a lot of Star Wars related guilty pleasures don't I?

Games:
Star Fox (all of them except for Command) - The most embarrassing thing is really not that I like this franchise so much, it's that I think it's (almost) unironically awesome. Like when Falco comes flying back at the end of Adventures and says "Different time, different planet... and you still need Falco's help", I actually thought that was really cool. The woodland critter drama, the stupid one-liners, the "you thought you had defeated me, but now I'm back to take revenge!" villain moments... I seriously find that stuff cool. Like I said, cheesy awesome is awesome too.

The Sims - I don't know, should I be embarrassed over this? It's a pretty good game, even if I'm not the main target audience. It's okay for a gamer guy to like The Sims... right?

Video game romances - It's ridiculous how much emotion I invest in these. Everything from Rinoa to Viconia, I keep feeling like I get more touched by them than I should. Maybe it's because my real life is completely devoid of kind of thin on actual romance, which when I think about it makes it even more embarrassing :-/

Misc:
Dancing when nobody's around - I don't really need to explain this one do I?

This - seriously, I've spent waaay too much time on this post, like I'm talking to a shrink or something.

I watch Glee, and listen to the music a fair amount. Also, Lady Gaga and Paramore.

Filmwise, I totally loved Camp Rock and you can occasionally catch me humming songs from High School Musical.

'The boys are back!'

Yeah, I've only seen the cartoon so you'll have to forgive me a bit. D:

Are there any characters that are featured in the comic that aren't in the cartoon though?

I really prefer the art of the comics though.

Death note is really good for making people understand that anime isn't just pokémon/cartoon porn.
I would think that Claymore would be better, but the reality is that even admitting watching anime is an invitation for pre judgement. I'm not particularly close to any of my friends, they are tools, I don't have a strong enough reason to expose something like a guilty pleasure to them.

In order to convince someone of anime's decency, you must first convince them to watch anime. I cannot be arsed to make that effort.

My name is Fiction said:
"Hahaha social dignity, i'm suprized I still have some left."
"Anime is my same secret no one knows about and never will, sometimes I get the beginning or ending theme song of one stuck in my head and hum it."
"Would sing it but its not in English!"

"Two of said songs did that..

*snip*

"Death note of course, when ever I hear this I want to punch toddlers."

*snip*

"From spice and wolf, this song makes me believe in true love." <3
I am such a deep, emotional man :/

"There are more... ALOT more so I just pick two."
I am a different person outside of my solitude, and have a façade of dignity - naturally the real me is completely lacking in the dignity (and indeed sanity) department, but depending on who I'm talking to I change.

That being said, I can't help but get some of those tunes stuck in my head:

(skip to about 1 min if you just want to hear the song (this particular vid isn't a good representation of claymore's awesomeness, the anime is much better than displayed.)

And ofc, like you, there are a lot more, I just had these to hand.

I was thinking about reading them. Are they worth it?

OT: I guess staying up late. Everything I do is much better when I think I should be asleep. As long as O have nothing to do the following day anyway.
Short answer: yes.

If you're interested in complex plots, incredibly well developed characters and an intelligence that keeps you working for your answers, read them.

Although, Claymore is worth a look too =D

I don't think so but you could just look them on wikipedia and check. It's all very silly I know but I need a change from the grimdarkness of the 41st millennium.

I haven't watched Claymore, but I'd say Death note is fairly effective. This is because it has a very good hook at the start.
Last friday, a classmate visited my house. Whenever I mentioned anime, he basically reacted with "lol, cartoon porn" or something of that sort. Then I forced him into watching the first episode of Death note, he said he liked it, and I got him to promise to watch episode 2 when he got home.

When I met him two or three days later he was at episode 13.

Edit: And the threshold for moving from regular live-action series to Death note isn't so high.

I think the real problem is getting them to watch other anime after having finished Death note.
