Halo games on easy difficulty. People consistently claim they want old style 90s shooter action, including yahtzee. Well, guess what? On easy difficulty, you become a bullet fridge who can jump high, run fast, and punch aliens to death. It essentially becomes duke nukem, albeit with an energy shield and a 2 weapon limit and regenerating health for 2 and 3. Not to mention, it's just plain fun killing hundreds of evil religious aliens. It's cathartic as all hell, plus the aliens like to say funny quotes too. There's a reason combat evolved had 4 sequels, 6 counting halo 4 and ODST. It's just plain fun. Childish, stupid, indulgent fun. And you know what? Sometimes, that's all I want. To punch aliens to death with a smile on my face.

I never really played a game that the majority of people disliked that I liked. Kingdoms Hearts maybe. If your talking about games my friends hate thats an entirely different story (They like call of duty so they dont deserve an opinion imo. Seriously how can you hate Deus Ex: HR and Mass Effect but like call of duty).

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon. I just get in one of those moods where I want to squash some bugs, but with guns instead of shoes, since bugs are gross and I don't want them anywhere near me.

And Mount and Blade: Warband. Roaming around the countryside on my 400+ hour character that I've had for a year or so now, and just cleaving my way through armies, felling 50% or more of the opposing army... it really makes you feel like a god.

Hmm...the thread title asks a much different question than the OP. I don't feel guilty in the slightest for enjoying, say, Devil May Cry 2. It's not nearly as good as the other three games in the series, but it's still good on its own merits and enjoyable.

No, when I saw "guilty videogaming pleasures," I immediately thought of The Sagara Family.

For me, there is only one...

Awww yeah. Nothing like sneaking around and giving hamburgers to people that you pulled out of your ass. Amazing game.

This may not apply to me, but I know others who really like Japanese porn games but refuse to admit it to anyone. Probably hidden on like 30 files encrypted and put with other documents

Sometimes I masturbate using the vibrate feature on the controller.

In all seriousness, why would I feel ashamed of playing a game, even if it is a bad game.

The game has been getting shit reviews all around, its pretty unknown as compared to its predecessor and honestly, the sounds suck ass. I am enjoying it quite a lot and it keeps a grin on my face constantly.

Same here, exactly the same. So much the the same it's freaky.

Playing Rayman Origins at the moment (well not this moment but you know what I mean <.<...)

On Topic:
Don't know really any games like this for me, Zelda Twilight Princess? Absolutely loved that game, only 1 fault really and I think that was too many weapons. Then Skyward Sword came along which was one of my favorite games really. But TP has been punched on pretty much I think so I'll go for that one.

The Sims 3.

Good Lord that thing's addictive. I kind of bought it not knowing what it was (thought it was a city builder - got mixed up with Sim City), loaded it up and started playing and before I knew it I'd bought about five of the expansions and wasted many hours of my life playing it (and still do). In fact, I think I've played it more than Skyrim. Mainly because I wound up with a baby and spent an inordinate amount of time trying to kill it (it was just so annoying), but the little sucker just wouldn't die no matter how long I left him out on the lawn overnight. . .

Borderlands. It's such a terrible game in so many ways. It's so much of what I hate about samey samey brownshooters with pretentions of being an "/rpg." But it's just a chest-high wall brownshooter, the rpg elements are entirely unnecessary. But I play it a lot. Gearbox included a splitscreen multiplayer, and some of us actually have real friends. Friends irl, not just the facebook type. Friends who come over and play loads of borderlands because even though it's a terrible game its actually multiplayer, and not just caling its stupid online version the "multiplayer."

Pretty much anything in my PS Move library.

Specifically though I'd say Just Dance 3. The game is loads of fun if you can let yourself have it.

Crackdown; once in a blue moon, I find myself going back to replay it. The city is nice and expansive and there is a reasonable difficulty jump between bosses. Still haven't found all those blasted hidden orbs...

This as well; I hate playing against human players because they don't generally allow me to do that.

Fallout 3. FO3 is universally demonized by fanboys of the first two games who refuse to accept it as a Fallout game, yet turn around and gladly accept New Vegas despite NV having nearly every flaw 3 has. Maaaany of them whine and ***** about how the combat system isn't turn based and how the first-person engine supposedly 'ruins the feel'.

*and some snippage*
Indeedy; Fallout 3 has some elements, especially in atmosphere which I felt were better done than New Vegas. Once in a while I get out 3 and reminisce about when I first got it and lost about 3 or 4 months of that year entirely.

You know, I've yet to be part of a FO3 flame war where anyone brings up the game mechanics, it's always been lore disputes.

Mine would be Dungeons. It was marketed specifically at fans of Dungeon Keeper and pissed off nearly all of them, it's simply closer to a Tycoon game than DK. Still enough charm for me to not regret the purchase.

Well, besides playing quite a bit of Call of Duty, I'd say Dante's Inferno. I actually liked it better than God of War 2 and 3. I know it was crazy horrible, but I can't help it.

I like the Musou games (Dynasty/Samurai/Orochi Warriors) which seems to be hated among the gaming community so that has to be my guilty pleasure. That and those fanservice JRPGs that Compile Heart and IF develop, I know that gameplay is bad in ways but I can't help but enjoy them.

This one hasn't come around in a while. What games that most people hate (and perhaps even you recognise to be effectively rubbish) do you love?
Mass Effect for me. Yeah, the whole game is shit, but I just love renegade shepard's b-action movie lines, the eye-raping, cringe inducing romances and the Emotional engagement(TM) that Bioware try to cram in the story. Gives me a lot of lulz.

Based on what I've seen ME3 is going to be absolutely fantastic in the "so bad it's good" way.

I really like playing Diner Dash clones. They all play pretty much the same, and I rarely play them without music or TV on in the background, but they have a groove that I find very enjoyable.

And hauling out Guitar Hero 3 or Rock Band so you can wail on a plastic guitar while pulling stupid rockstar poses will never stop being fun.
