Okay i was talking to a mate of mine (He is a die-hard GH player) and he was bragging about 100%ing Raining Blood by Slayer on Expert (No small task). I was fine with this......until he started acting like he was a pro who knew everything there is to know about guitar.

It's halo MLG syndrome all over again. As an actual Guitarist (Playing for 9 years now) it annoys the hell out of me to see Nerds like him acting like rockstars. His head is so far up his own ass that he can't realise that he is just pressing buttons a plastic toy in rapid succession.

Has anyone else experienced this?

No, but then again most of my friends actually are guitarists.

I don't see a problem with him being like that though, it's not like he can talk about much other than a limited set list and 1 guitar.

Yeah I have. Pretty much same premise here. But she claimed after doing a hard song on Expert, she claimed she was the shit.

Truth was she was good at Guitar Hero, but even when she does play real guitar, she is shit.

I haven't. Most people I know realise that the two things are very different.
Why don't you give him a guitar and tell him to play the song?

Old thread is old and has been done to death already however long ago the first game came out. Incidentally, being a rock star doesn't make you any good at Guitar Hero, either, just like playing Mario doesn't make you a plumber and playing MW2 doesn't make you a soldier (and vice versa).

Haven't seen that, but I have seen people who thought they were great dancers because they were good at DDR.

Just smile and nod. They'll find out soon enough.

Yes. Best corse of action is to give them a real guitar, tell them to play raining blood on it and watch them squirm. I found thats basicly a slap back to reality.

But playing Madden does make you good at American Football! :p

Thanks for clarifying this.
Now, sorry for my kind-of-douche respond, but it really annoys me when GH players are put down like that. I know a lot of them, I am myself and most of the people I know who play GH play regular guitar. So, I kind of get offended when you call GH player "nerds".
Also, believe me, Raining Blood FC on Expert is quite an accomplisment. Although your friend does sound pretentious.

Yep, I have many friends that spent weeks playing Guitar Hero, if they put that much time in trying to actually learn to play guitar, they may be alright. But no, they like their buttons.

I truly cannot see the point of music games.

Easy?
Are they both five?
I mean, I can't believe there's someone who is bragging about finishing a GH song ON EASY.

There is a cure for this.
Let him play on your guitar or a real guitar in general.

Either he'll get crushed undisputeably, or he'll rock your buttocks off :p
Probably the first part though!
That i did, Twas quite a blast

I have no idea what you are talking about. I play tons of Guitar Hero and am a total rockstar, i also play heaps of Mario and am a pro at taking shrooms and jumping on turtles.

If I weren't so lazy (and busy eating breakfast), I suppose I'd be compelled to link to the racer who learned to drive from Gran Turismo now.
