My guitar is an ESP LTD M-50, which is lovely.
I prefer to play rock/metal.
This. Every time. I want to get an ESP, but I'm indecisive between the AX series or the F series. That or a Jackson Kelly. They're all so bloody gorgeous :p

I have an Epiphone Dot Hollow-body which I play blues and classic rock on, and a Gibson SG with EMG-81/85 pickups to play the metal, rock, and prog I really enjoy. I also own an Epiphone SG bass which I play... Well, all that shit on bass.

I got myself an Ibanez RG.

I mostly play death metal, but I'm not very good which really limits what I can play :(

My Guitar is a Jackson Rhodes Model RR5
My genre ranges from classic rock, to death metal. I would say a majority of what I play is thrash (Metallica, Judas priest, Annihilator, ect.)

I play all styles.

I used to own a Fender Strat but I traded it in for some amp gear because I got bored of the sound, I got sick of sounding like every other guitarist.

For singing and playing solo I use an Epiphone Wildkat (google it, it's a bit like a Gretsch) and I prefer various Epiphone SGs for any band work that might require heavy distortion. I also have a Hofner Club 50 that I use for recording sometimes, it has a great clean tone but it's a dog to play and too fragile to take onto a stage.

For bass I can't go past the Epiphone Thunderbird, but I also use a cheap no-name Precision copy sometimes which is a little more comfortable even though it doesn't sound as good (although it's getting close since I got the pickups rewound).

I have a few acoustics but none that I'm completely happy with.

How the Hell did you afford a Gibson??

I'm using an Epiphone Les Paul Custom for my electric guitar. Me and a few mates have got an IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) band going, and I'm providing guitar parts. That means a lot of effects etc. See the guitar solo in "Digital Love" by Daft Punk for the type of thing we're going for. I'm pretty much up to my knees in effects pedals when we're doing a gig.

When I'm just practicing, I like to do a whole variety of things. Highlights include:

Improvising to classical and baroque pieces (sounds wonderful).

Experimenting with what kind of sounds the instrument can produce.

Simply covering great songs.

And much more...

I own a Dean Flying V Michael Shenker Edition which is sexy but broken so at the minute I'm rocking a Squier Strat. I play doom metal, powerviolence, grindcore, deathcore, hardcore, punk, noise, drone and black metal.

Well I started about 4 months ago (give or take) and I bought a Squier SE 10 Strato, which has some fretting problems, but nonetheless, has a delightful sound. I like to play hard rock, metal, and I've found myself playing blues at times, but nonetheless, I enjoy improvising away at the strings for hours. It's amazing just how many riffs can come up, and writing them all down means I'll have a lot of ideas when it comes to song writing.

I guess I could have bought a Gibson but I looked at the money and thought "oh my god I can buy five Epiphones with that cash", so I bought five Epiphones instead.

I don't think there's enough of a difference in quality between Epiphone and Gibson to warrant the extreme price jump between the two brands. Most Epis that I've heard play and sound at least 90% as good as a Gibson, and I like the sound of the Wildkat I own a lot more than the nearest Gibson equivalents I've played (i.e an ES-175 with P90s as Gibson don't really do anything like the Wildkat). I think with Gibson in many cases you're paying a premium just for the name "Gibson" if you know what I mean.

I would say the same thing about Fender and Squier. I teach guitar and most of my students have Squiers, there's a bit of a variation between one Squier's sound and the next but basically they sound fine. Some of the workmanship is a bit rough and ready, plus they always need a setup out of the factory, but it's a serviceable sound, good enough to take on a stage.
