Amen to that. Had to visit a few shops til I called on a friend's store. He let me inspect every Mosin he had. The new ones coming out of Eastern Europe now are good too - cheap, reliable, good shots and not covered in that god-awful preservative.

Yeah, my brother recently bought one for my father for his birthday and its covered in that weird stuff, but when they clean it off and go shooting, I'm sure they'll be smiling ear to ear.
