Epic background singing as camere zooms out into space. The center of galaxy seems to flame up and burn as a big muthafraking robot emerges.

Another: "-We'll break trough the heavens and dimensions.-"

...On the background galaxies are swirling and burning up, bowing to the dominion of one big, awesome robot that is whreathed in green flames that seems to be standing on top of Milky Way...

I'm sorry, who? God? Lesser Character? Did these people not have names? I can only assume you are referring to Kamina and Simon. In terms of story I'd say Kamina was there only for Simons character development.
Anyway, everyone knows the coolest characters by far in the entire series are Boota, Viral and Leeron.

Also, how did you get God from Kamina?

The first 16 episodes really make the series, and are indeed awesome; post-time skip, Gurren Lagann sort of loses its spark and charm.

Screw Kamina; Simon and Kittan were both better and I think that anyone who was all "THE SHOW WAS OVER AFTER EPISODE 8 RAWRRRRRR" was totally missing the point.

Kamina was okay, he just really annoyed me. The show was good before the timeskip, it was amazing after it.

I thought he was pretty cool, but Simon's transformation from angry kid sad at the loss of his only father-figure to a noble warrior and then to total badass was awesome.
Kittan's crowning moment of awesome was damn cool though.
For me, the series kept getting better and better and better. Even if the villains were getting more and more over the top (if that's even possible).

I wouldn't say the "best" I've ever seen, but it was DAMN good. Episode 15 has possibly the best Super Mecha Fight in Anime.

Wll, I won't argue tthat it's the DBZ of mecha, but personally I didn't get into it. NOt saying I didn't like it, but seriously....I lost interest after a certain someone bit the dust. Needless to say I lasted about 2 episodes into the 2nd season and gave up.

Also, Kamina is Japanese is the plain-past form of the noun Kami....the Japanese word for spirit or god. And I'm not the only person who equates Kamina with a god, many crazy japanese people do. If they've formed a cult around Suzumiya Haruhi, they've formed a cult around Kamina.
