I love how every man on here is apparently above average on almost everything. You'd almost think they got their averages wrong.... :/
For the most part people only voice up if they are above average, one of the reasons why studies where people measure themselves are unreliable.

Im pretty sure that the super-fit guy in the picture is sort of a jab against how guys see there level of physical fitness, versus what the statistics say. What a guy sees differs from the statistical reality on the page? That reflects real life.

This is interesting. I consider myself as once being fit, but definitely on a downswing in my overall fitness, and much better in Aerobics when compared to abysmal strength, especially upper body strength. But even now, I appear to be able to beat the average mile by over 4 minutes and conservatively I could do at least a dozen pull-ups.

I can't help but wonder at the statistics though. I mean, what do you do with the guy who is really sick, and finished the mile in several hours while everyone else does it in 7 minutes? What sort of standard deviations do we have here? What was the population sample? Was there significance? True rigor may be unrealistic here, but I wonder how they got this data.

Some of you need to get a clue. A 12 minute mile is not a "brisk walk" A 12 minute mile is jogging at 5mph. A brisk walk is between 3.5 and 4mph. Most of you bragging that you can do it would be cramping and wanting to quit within the first quarter mile.

These are also "averages" and "estimates". The moron pictured has about 1.5% body fat...assuming they pictured him as what the "goal" for an "average" should be. This dude stacks and spends 2 to 3 hours daily lifting weights.

Direct comparison:
Decently physically fit
Could be better
Less than $100/year on vitamins and supplements
Use my fitness equipment daily
60bpm resting heart rate
6 hours weekly exercise or more
Don't gain fat yearly
1 pull up
Best shape at 26, nearly 4 years ago
10 minute mile, can run consecutive 12 minute miles, but not 10 minute
6'2", 3" taller than average
46" chest
34" waist
Penis size and sexual statistics are nobody's business here except my own and my wife's.
Weight 220lbs
Bench press 200lbs

The font is too small I can't read any of this.

I can do more than 1 stinkin' pull-up though!

I think it's a rule of the Escapist (or perhaps the Internet in general)...

Everyone who posts has a significantly longer penis than average.
Everyone who posts has a significantly higher IQ than average.

Anyway, I'm a bit faster and taller than average, but also a bit lighter and weaker. Pretty close overall (which is sorta sad).

Life expectancy 77 years? Not in the US, it's like 72 or somthing. Otherwise this seems like out of a workout mag. Only thing I got goin for me after losing all that weight and muscle after cancer is the 6'1" and the penis size being a good ways beyond average.
I read the last bit as "the 6'1" penis size being a good ways beyond average"
Yes I 6'1" is a bit more than average. Anyway, some of those stats seem like they have been colected at a gym and others at a Fast food outlet.
HA! It can be used as a blunt weapon for home defense too

How the hell is that dude supposed to represent the average guy?
I mean, I know it's just a picture, but still.
What.
It's called media influence. It's just a snide way of saying "This is what you should look like"

Think about it: Posting about your stats self-selects for people who actually do have above average stats, as well as people who exaggerate.

What gets me is that you are all "above average" but for the average to be 5.08 inches, didn't half the guys have to be less than that?
And blah, that guy is a douche and I can honestly say I have never called anyone that in my life until now...
There could be some outliers. A small pool of people with extremely small penises that drags the average way down. So long as we're going by mean size, and not median.

Said people are going to complain on the forum about averages.
I am female so if you referring to me as complaining, I am afraid that is not gonna work.
Not complaining, just curiously amused.
My tongue was firmly in cheek. Especially since what I was doing was complaining about people's perception of "averages." As a student who's (supposed to be) trained on persuasive (and misleading) use of statistics in media, I also have a few problems with these stats and their supposed usefulness.

Also, damn it, I try to avoid making false gender assumptions. Sorry for the case of mistaken identity. :S

Wow... So I beat the average male in a lot of these...

Then again, the man in the picture is white, and from the U.S., I am black and from Canada and these numbers obviously could be from a U.S. only perspective. And even then the numbers could be from one party of the U.S.
You do know the whole "black people have statistically larger penis'" thing is a fallacy?

As for fitness. Aside from sprinting and boxing for some reason. There isn't really a whole lot of difference.
I was also referring to the fact that due to different cultural aspects and different geographical points that this "study" is not accurate for anyone who isn't White and born in the U.S. Thank you for being the one to jump right to the stereotype subject though. You gonna assume that I'm a Maple Syrup Slurping Lumber Jack because i'm from Canada next?

Then again the man in the picture is white, and from the U.S., I am whiter and from Norway and these numbers obviously could be from a U.S. only perspective. And even then the numbers could be from one party of the U.S.

And regarding penis size statistics:
I am a believer that media falsifies these statistics so more men will feel good about themselves, reducing violence and idiotic behaviour.

That said, they call me the man, but my penis the legend.

They don't take race/ethnicities into account, so asians will be pulling the average down, the blacks will be pulling it up, however there are many more asians than blacks.

What.
I don't recall ever seeing a guy like that out on the street. In movies and on film, sure but the average guy? The logic behind that photo is the same as the logic behind pointing out 'minorities' in Harlem.

I spend 0$ on vitamins and supplements.
I don't own fitness equipment
I am unsure of the size of my chest...and I'm only about 80% certain that I'm 5'10...

As for the size of my biceps...no idea...fat content, muscle content, no idea. I don't know my weight and I don't care enough to exercise but I walk everywhere when I go out so I wouldn't call that sedentary. When it comes to the size of my other thing, it isn't specific. Guys know there are 2 sizes, relaxed and erect. if the average is 5.09 relaxed than I'm below average. If it's 5.09 erect than I'm above average. I don't have sex often enough to time it, same with the orgasms and, I don't watch porn at all. Out of working out or having sex...that's something of a trick question since technically, they're one and the same. I'm almost 23...I would rather not think of that as my physical peak.

Slightly short (about 5'7")
Rather underweight
Not much in the way of biceps
No idea about chest
Yet despite all that, some how my waist is bang on average, but that could be beer podge. <.<

Penis is slightly above average though so thats good news, even if the average penis size can change dramatically depending on the source.

As for all the fitness stuff, not a clue, I'm really unfit though, seldom exercise, no idea how long it takes me to run a mile, can't do many push ups at all. I can do ~50 sit ups mind so idk.

I'm pretty average all around basically with the odd exception.
