I open this thread because of something that honestly just baffled me.

A story:
-A guy meets a girl, on XBL. The guy introduces the girl to all of his friends that he generally associates with. Some of the friends like her, others think she's a general *****. After the guy and girl begin to talk and get to know each other, the guy begins to ignore his friends. (Completely). The guy then sends the girl and her two kids a 360, a game, and a leapster for Christmas. Not only did this guy do all of that, but he also told her he had to drive a truck down to where she lived to deliver parts for his job. He said that he might come down to visit. This guy actually bought a plane ticket and 4 passes to Disney World for her and her kids. A couple of weeks before the guy was to go down to see her, she tells him that there's another guy (we will call him DUDE for so there's no confusion) she's been talking to. Now, Dude had be introduced as the girl's friend and had been playing with the girl and guy.. Awkward. Now the guy is a little mad and completely quits talking to her and well, is understandably upset.

Flash Forward to about 6 months later:
-The girl and dude had moved in together for a bit, but he broke up with her and moved back to his hometown. The girl begged guy to put her back on her friends list because she missed all of her friends. Guy adds her back and is now beginning to ignore his friends AGAIN.

I personally care for neither person, especially the girl, because she's a douche, in this situation, but... Is this a normal guy thing?
If the girl wronged you once and kind of used you... would you really just go back to her?

The guy's cool, but the girl was rude to me and well, she regretted that. Since it's the internet, if they fell off the face of the earth, I wouldn't care, but seeing as how I've known guy for a year, I guess I'm entitled to be semi-concerned.

Someone just needs to say it to guys face. "this ***** is using you, open your eyes". And if he argues about it just re-tell the facts. If he can't see it then he's beyond hope.

It's common, I'd say. Guys on the interwebs tend to flock to women like they're a second coming of Jesus. Guys neglect their friends to spend time with the girl. And the girl loves all the attention (in a lot of cases). I've been down that road, and after I realized it, I saw how dumb I was acting.

Treat everyone equally! No special treatment because of gender!

Jesus christ that was incomprehensible. I want to understand but it just hurts too much.

I wouldn't go back to someone who caused me pain, I'm pretty stubborn like that.

I went back to a girl after worse, but that was my first girl, not done anything similar since. So it might be first girl crush (it's a lot stronger than the rest for some reason).

The other thing about him leaving all his friends for her is a certain type of guy, some do some don't, I have a fried who if I don't see for a week or two I can assume he's a new missus and facebook confirms it.

Chances are after she does something he cannot forgive or if she keeps doing what she's doing, he will learn and distance himself from her, takes some time though, then he'll just look back on it as a mistake/learning experience. I did at least.

Its also easier at times to make bad descions about people you meet online. The limited contact of on-line allows you to overlook/ignore theire negative peronality traitsn which you normally wouldnt tolerate face to face.

Guy is probably lonely and perhaps a little lacking of self-respect/confidence too.

^not from personal expierience....i swears :p.

No she's not. And she has two kids, which should be a turn off to a lot of guys.

See now this is where it all went wrong.
True, but you can't help where you meet someone.
I met my boyfriend on XBL and we've been dating for a year and a half and are planning on getting married.

Now on a scale of 1 to 10, how lonely is the guy in question? If its 10, its understandable. If its 1, I can't fathom why it would have happened other than an elaborate scheme to get her inheritance. But I digress.

Well to each their own really, i prefer the more face to face approach to things. Maybe im old fashioned.
Nah, I used to date around all the time and never used the internet, but I got XBL talked to this awesome guy, met him in person and now I'm going to college 20 minutes from him. Boom goes the dynamite!

Uhm, to my knowlede he's not really lonely. I'd say he'd be like a 4 or 5. Maybe a bit lonely, but I never thought he'd be lonely enough to go back to the girl. *sigh*
Men baffle me.

In all seriousness, they met on XBL? What did you expect? Some magical happily ever after?
I know there are certain people on this site that have found relationships online, and that's fine. But overall I'm skeptical of meeting anyone online because it seems like a majority of times it ends up being things like this.

Well, I'm guessing it has something to do with sex.
Yes, most likely.
I just couldn't quite understand it anyways. If he wants sex, why not buy a hooker?
No commitment and easy clean up.
