Hacking/BOTTING on MMOs is morally superior over hacking FPS etc

Hacking and botting are cheating.

Cheating is bullshit, especially in a shared multi-user game.

Neither exerts a moral superiority, and if one engages in that sort of activity then they deserve to be kicked in the reproductive organs swiftly and repeatedly.

Your right, i need to pick the class that beats that guys class, face it MMOs are not competitive games

FPS games dont give you +1 armor or +1 attack every time you kill 10 people just saying unless its COD but most people just hack the levels anyway or at lest the people i know who play
Brilliant display of ignorance... if only you were being sarcastic. As an MMO player your argument was easily recognizable as coming from a position of ignorance from early on anyway but this just makes it so much more obvious.

Are you under the FALSE impression that your character walks on a blanket of "boars" and that bots dont even dent the amount of "boars" there are? I shall answer this for you as, from what you have already said, YES that is what you are saying and of course this is wrong. Someone botting, whether it be kills or items, is taking away from the people actually playing the game. They are killing all the "boars" in your mission area or taking up valuable item gathering space and even IF you werent saying that there is always infinite of everything in every MMO you would still be saying that botters get priority over the players that actually play because they were smart enough to NOT play the game and just reap the rewards.

Either way, you are wrong.

I'm sorry, but MMORPG's aren't competitive. The skill cap is way, WAY too low. Especially in WoW's case.

To play a "fixed" MMORPG experience try Progress Quest.

http://progressquest.com/ - The world's first (and best) 0-player game.
I'm a little curious as to what makes the PvP part of MMOs and COs not competitive. Especially when some games actually hold monthly tournaments and don't rely on gear in high level PvP.

The gameplay of an FPS is also simple enough for a bot to manage(and do extremely well at). Why not skip the entire game and save yourself some time.

Hacks are hacks, and use of them in any game incurs the wrath of this guy:

Don't do it. It's not fun in an FPS (no personal experiences in a MMO, I'm afraid), and you'll get banned regardless of how "morally superior" it is.

Humm....If i hit 80 on wow and enter PvP i will get ripped by level 80s with 70k HP while i have 30 or 20k

In starcraft or CS 1.6 i enter i game and i get ripped because im bad, do you understand? NO? ok

Competitive games in my book are the ones that face you off against a person with non of that i have more items BS WoW has kinda like chess how would you feel if chess would give you an extra queen when ever you beat 5 people, ya....

If you want me to prove my point, I have played wow and it has come to my attention that the only "skill" aspect of the game is being able to map all your keys, as a rogue i am able to kill anyone who is not a counter to my class while it being impossible to kill anyone who IS a counter to my class unless they panic and click 3 instead of 5 or something.

But ya MMOs are not competitive i bet if i made a bot with if commands e.g if -50% hp use pot etc i could send in my bot to fight and get the same results as if i was fighting myself.

And also to people saying im taking peoples quest mobs your funny if i get reported 2 or 3 times admin comes bans me so ya its not me stealing from people its rather me hiding from people.

For starters I am not even talking about WoW. I don't even play it. In Guild Wars the gear you have means nothing and it is entirely skill based. If you can't use your 8 chosen skills(for that game) and prof well in a GvG match you can and probably will bring down your team.

In fact in Guild Wars when you make a PvP you are basically given max gear from the start. The only ting you have unlock are Runes and weapon mods. To be honest if have played PvE before that you probably have most of the mods and runes anyway or at least the important ones. How do you unlock these you ask? Just by playing PvP. There are even special areas where you can farm a certain amount everyday against computer characters.

I would love to see you make a bot that would even come close to the skills of a regular mid-low ranked GvGer or HAer.[footnote]GvG is Guild Versus Guild. It is a game where a total of 16 people(8 on each team) fight against each other in one of their guild halls. Who ever reduces the other teams DP to 60% or kills their Guild Lord wins.
HA refers to Heroes Ascent. It is a high level PvP area with some varying game types. It is still 8v8 though.[/footnote] Explain how in a game like Guild Wars which is a CORPG if you want to get technical requires no skill? Everyone has same base stats and number of attribute points from the get go. How you augment them is up to you.

You know there are other MMOs and COs than WoW?

After playing a few MMOs and FPS RTS games etc it has come to my attention that Hacking Botting on an MMO is less evil over hacking on a FPS game etc, But where do i get this theory from you may ask, The simple answer to this is if The game play of an MMO is so simple that even a program can emulate the actions needed to progress then why do we bother grinding on MMOs when we could i dont know do anything els even play a better game, but you must understand where im coming from,

If i asked you what is 998782346545645 + 346326345234234 sure you can do it in your head and its a simple question but wouldn't you rather use a calculator? thats the same with MMOs after you do everything once whats the point of doing it again? especially if this task in question is right click a Ore to mine it.

On the Flip side hacking FPS game or any competitive game in general is not very moral at all, You see if your facing off against a player in a game where number dont determine the out come using hacks like wall hack or aim bots if very cheap and overall ruins the game for others.

But you may ask but BOTTING on MMOs ruins the game for others also, Well lets think about this one, the effect of "ruined game" is not a direct blow to the person, sure maybe if he sees you botting he will say oh my look at me wasting my time while this guy gets everything faster without putting any work into it.

For this i have a simple answer Yes your right they are cheating and getting everything faster they are bypassing all the junk while you heroically kill that 9000th boar to gain that 80th level

but think about it are you having fun? if the action of playing an MMO is not fun then why are you playing it? or is it a greed factor found only in MMO players, You see if i cheated on COD and got all unlock from the start and own you in a match, tell me is it that i beat you because i cheated the game or rather did i beat you because the game is unbalanced and depends on numbers over effort of the player?
Well you can get twitchers for MMO's that make your spells auto cast to react against enemy spells in PvP. Thus ruining PvP. Also bots are used by gold farmers to sell who also use account hacking to fund their little business.

MMO's are not about 1 on 1 skill which a lot of FPS games are based on, usually in an FPS you face off against 1 opponent and then move to the next, a skillfull player can switch between targets quickly and take out several in one death, the combat in MMO is more about team fighting, a lot of the times your character does not have the equipment or set up to deal with every type of opponent which is why you bring your buddies to form a team that has strong symbiotic qualities. Although an FPS can have team work, everyone is capable of taking everyone out and a couple of hyper good players can win the game for a team.

If you got all the unlocks in CoD I would still pwn your arse with a pistol, you sound like a little nublet, then you would probably call me a hacker and disconnect to beat the shit out of your sister...side note. :D

The best fun of an MMO is PvP. Fighting an NPC over and over to collect items over and over is boring and you want to skip to the good bits. An FPS though, you're always against other people

So your complaining because you play a MMO that revolves solely around grinding and completely ignoring that there can be an entirely skill based MMO/CORPG? That is kinda a bit stupid. If you don't like that aspect of WoW don't play it like many others have said.

If you really don't like that type of gameplay then don't play it. There are plenty of other games out there that rely solely(or at least 90%) on skill. The fact that you are picking out 1 MMO in a sea of shit shows me you don't really care about having a decent argument. I know WoW is a grind fest which is why I play Guild Wars which is grind optional.

I haven't read a single post by you OP that I've liked today. This one is no different.

It's stupid to bot / cheat / hack / glitch in any game. I don't think the genre makes any difference. You're not playing the generally accepted way that you're supposed to.

So, what you are saying is that WoW requires more brain than Eve?
No, I'm saying that EVE is more calculator-based than WoW... if that makes any sense at all. (I'm just trying to say this in context of the main post).
Having played both Eve and your s-typical MMO, I can say that Eve is NOT just about the biggest numbers. Any MMO allows for more experienced/skilled players to gain a little edge over the usual noob with high class loot, but with Eve, I've done things that weren't possible on pure calculator kung-fu alone! What sane player takes on a Hulk with a Rifter in high sec and expects to win? Me. :) It doesn't work on a calculator, but I sure as hell make it work....

Uh, so the above doesn't have anything to do with the OP. Just wanted to clear that up. ^_^

Ok well that's fair enough but it doesn't take away from the fact that there are competitve MMOs out there. You just haven't played them. As I said before Guild Wars is probably the best example of a Competitive MMO. That is part of the reason it is called a CORPG. Doesn't mean you will like it but it is still highly competitive.

For starters I am not even talking about Guild Wars. I don't even play it. In WoW You grind your face off then make Gems items items potions etc for PvP so after hitting max level you would need to farm for 3 weeks just to get the worst gear in the game.

Dont get me wrong i played alot of MMOs heres a few

WOW-7 months
Fiesta-4 weeks
Ragnarok-2 months
Perfect World-1week
Warhammer-1 day
Aion-1 month
Maplestory-5 weeks
Forsaken world-Still playing
Rappels-4hours
Allods-3 days

And ya they all tend to be grind feasts until you hit X level then you can start doing end game bosses etc with a guild rather then just a newbe guild, But i used WoW as a example because its what all people know the MMO to be
When you have decades behind a MMO you may call that playing a lot.

Why bother working? Someone else will do my job for me and I can just get money from the Government!

Same principle dude.
No It is not. You don't get money from playing wow. You get nothing that really helps you in anyway outside the game.
Money = experience
working = grinding
someone else = bot. (It would be more appropriate to use a robot than someone else.
You = no common sense

Besides, life is a game with no continues.
So you're saying that experience in wow (not xp points, EXPERIENCE) is the same as experience in a job? I was pointing out the fact that wow is just a game, whereas a job is where you get your money, it's what people use to identify you and it's what you've trained your entire life for. Wow is just a game. And a bad one at that.

the message behind your example is true, but you fail to take into account what you GAIN from actually working. You get nothing that doesn't benefit you in life by playing wow.

Morally superior or not, hacking any game is still pointless. In an MMO it removes the sense of achievement you get by working towards your own goals properly, and in an FPS it removes the feeling of being better than everyone else because you're not, you're using a bot to be good...

I think what we really need to take away from this is that botting in MMOs isn't less condemnable than botting in FPSes or vice versa, it's just DIFFERENT. Quite simply, FPS botting causes short-term problems (i.e. you dying) but exists in a game where there is no long term and botting in MMOs causes long term problems (i.e. fucking up the game's economy and markets) but can largely be ignored by other players at the time.

And remember also that different people at different times will have different experiences of bots, depending on how good they are and their playing style relative to the bot, and whether the bot is designed to fuck up the game or keep it balanced.

In short, the OP has made such huge generalisations as to render the ensuing conversation completely pointless.
