anybody seen this? http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150534538160605&set=a.410845525604.206586.42214640604&type=1&theater
No idea how official it may be, but it's a mighty coincidence for the aperture science fb page to have a picture of an ocean liner similar to the borealis referencing the third annual something.
That does seem quite legit, but that is definetly not the borealis. That looks more like a commercial ocean liner, the borealis is a cargo or research liner. I definetly do not think it's a coincidence that this and the website came out so close to each other.

Yeah, this is probably a hoax. And all of it coming out in relation to the Portal 2 video is probably a coincidence. As for Doug Lombardi saying there would be no Episode Three ARG, I also remember those guys saying that the Half-Life 2 Episodes would allow for faster development of game. Oh, and this ...

VALVe has a terrible track record of keeping their word on things like that. Doesn't mean THIS is the ARG, though, but I wouldn't flinch if they eventually did do an Episode Three ARG.

It would be cool if this was real though. Not that I care at this point and wouldn't buy Episode Three just because it's story no longer has relevance, but I would still like to know that Episode Three got released in my life time.

Guys, I already told you <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.335204-How-I-breached-into-Valves-office-and-brought-you-news-of-Half-Life-3>the truth. Don't let yourself be trolled.
Wow, you really went through the trouble to make that pointless thread? Just because of all the Episode Three threads? ......

... You know, some of us masturbate to pass the time instead of making pointless threads like that ...

Man it's pretty depressing that I feel nothing at all over this info. I was the biggest half-life nerd since the first game. After episode 2 I was chomping at the bit to get ep3 and see how it all concluded, but after 4-5 years and all we have is a morsel of info I am way beyond caring how it ends.

I was cool with Valve taking their time to perfect games, but giving us nothing after this long is just plain unacceptable. It seems Valve would rather not release Ep3 or half-life 3 and instead make portal sequels and team fortress 2 hats.

Screw you Valve.

Am I the only one kind of wishing Gabe owuld release 'Half life 3' only when you install it it replaces all your images, music icons games etc, with a low quality photo of his own face, distorted in such a way it looks like a troll face? than deletes system 32? Just me then...

Nothing? Valve gave us or are giving us L4D 1+2, Portal 2, Dota 2 and the new Counter Strike. Valve aren't just the half life company. Also, Valve has given us a massive amount of stuff, free updates to TF2 almost every fortnight, the massive amount of steam sales and they given most people free gifts. But because they haven't said anything about HL3 you think valve is an unacceptable company? If you were a true Valve fan then you would appreciate all their work, not just make silly statements like "and instead make portal sequels and TF2 hats". They made one portal sequel, one of the best games of the year. One more thing is that I really don't get what is up with the whole thing about Valve only making hats for tf2, it's just nonsense. If TF2 didn't have hats then it would of slowly died after becoming free to play, and hats are just minor things to put on you're character, they are not ruining tf2 for anyone.

For a troll, that would be amazing! But only if they actually release it after.

Same here, dude. I played the Orange Box back in Spring of 2008 and I fell in love with Half-Life 2. Then I played the episodes and, while One was okay, Two's end made my jaw drop to the floor! It was amazing ...

But after this length of time, that ending has no impact or relevance. I want the rumors to be true just so I can see the game come out in my lifetime. As for actually buying it? It would have to be super-fucking awesome for that to happen. Even if it's "Half-Life 3" instead of "Episode Three", VALVe would still have to show me that 4+ years of total silence was worth it.

Do you know that they did the same thing with Half-Life 2? It took them six years to release it and during four of those years they didn't say anything about it, just like now. Half-Life 2 still had a huge impact on the gaming world, so why not hl3?
Also, some people have this idea that Valve should only make Half-Life games. It's entierly normal that they want to try new and different things. So maybe they put hl on the back burner, that doesn't mean that they don't care.
They will eventually talk about Half-Life and they will eventually release it and there are some things happening which suggest that it will be soon.

Its simple we are getting half life 3 in 2019. Which is next week in valve time
Ah, a valve time joke ay? Remember when the TF2 team said they were going to release something big in a week and it took them 1 week to do it. Or when Portal 2 had a release date and was released then. Exactly, Valve is very good on keeping firm dates, but not so good when this could all be fanboy work.

I stopped caring about Half Life 3 like I did with Duke Nukem Forever, and the reason I don't care is because Half Life doesn't NEED to be a trilogy.

Half-Life has never been anything else than slightly above-average shooter, can't understand why everyone's so jolly about the series.

That argument makes no sense. Half Life fans need a sequel because they want to know what happened after the end of episode 2. The only reason they might be naming it Half Life 3 is because they aren't doing the episodic model anymore, and the next half life will probably be as long or longer than half life 2. So yes, half life does need to get a sequel, which will coincidently make it a trilogy.

People want closure. Can you blame them?

Ah, hell, so do I. I'm getting excited at the suggestion too. And I was never even that hyped for the series!

Smells like fresh baked troll to me...Valve is sitting on the most notable piece of vaporware left to gaming, for the time being, and that's something that's hard to get rid of.

I stopped caring about this long ago, honestly I think it's fake.
It's pretty sad how everyone seems to leap onto every little mention of half life 3 looking for clues that aren't there.

I'm just going to sit here and ignore all news to do with half life 3 until it comes up, I strongly suggest the rest of you do the same because this is just getting silly now, you're getting yourselves hyped over nothing @_@

But hey, that's my opinion you don't need to share it ^_^

Even though I agree, I'd be careful how you tread around these forums with that kind of language.

This is a list [https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time/] of every game Valve has released, when they said it was coming out, and when it actually came out. You might notice that almost every single one is later, including Portal 2, which was originally supposed to be released in the holiday season of 2010. That's over a year long delay! Valve is good for plenty, but not for releasing things on time.

Stop hyping it up, people. It's going to come out eventually, and it's going to be as good as or slightly worse than your favourite installment so far.
