My friends, I have not made many posts but after filtering some other threads I have found that many people have forgotten about the glorius days of Half-Life.

People seem to find that Half-Life is an inferior game compared to the modern day fps, such as Halo. But I believe that they have forgotten that modern day games were built upon this series.

Your thoughts and comments are much appreciated.

What do you mean, Half-Life has been forgotten? Do you have any idea how often it's brought up on a day-to-day basis?

We've talked about this a lot, at least I know I have. It's true, people don't acknowledge that Half-Life was the basis for most modern developments in the FPS series, but if they are really interested, they can play Black Mesa Source [http://www.blackmesasource.com/] when it comes out, and they'll get their history lesson with a teaspoon of modern gfx to soothe the eyes.

I thought the original Half Life SUCKED. (That's right, SUCKED!) It can be forgotten for all I care.

But on the other hand, I LOVED HL2 and the episodes. Other game companies can learn a lot from Valve.

Everything dies with age. Half-Life has seen it's final days among the mainstream gamers who talk about everything new...but for the good old gamers, we still have the memories.

I didn't like the games back then and I definitely don't like any of them now.

Would this Include Half-life 2?
Yes, of course. I mean the series and it doesn't matter what platform you played it on.

I wouldn't have said Half-Life was forgotten. The graphics may be dated, but the gameplay is still excellent, and, in my opinion, at least, it's still one of the best shooters ever made. It can easily hold its own with the current crop of mediocrity we're getting.

Surely that should be "if it comes out"? I thought it had been in development for absolutely ages. Presumably the guys making it are trying to imitate Valve in every way.

Your new here, so you didn't know, but this site is home to a lot of valve fans.
This site in general loves half-life more than most games.
Tough break, but otherwise welcome to the escapist.

I think the series will live on, but technology wise all the half life games are a bit outdated. The games are some of the best ever created but hey, we have all played cod4.

Last I heard they had express approval from Valve... I've read up the site a little bit and I guess I heard wrong... but the official trailer does look fucking cool
