I think it's safe to say that Half Life will never be forgotten on this site...or anywhere else. Whether you loved it or not, it is undeniably a major title in video game history. That is a fact.

Well yes, but I'm unsure if those are related. Unless the G-Man is somehow connected to the Combine (in which case, why would he be sending Gordon against them?), it seems unlikely that Eli's death is related to Breen's. Although it is an odd coincidence...

Oh my God. Alyx knows about G-Man.

Don't kill Alyx, for the love of GOD, Valve!

I remember and honor the greatness that is the original Half-Life. As a matter of fact, I still have it on my laptop. Gordon Freeman was my first (and current) favorite FPS hero!

I think an apt addition to the title would be have people forgotten that not everybody has to like the same thing? I kinda get tired of having to defend myself for not liking Half Life. Sure, Half Life may be the greatest thing on god's green earth for most of you, but not everyone. To me, even by what the standards were when it came out, HL2 just comes across as Valve wanking off their physics engine.

Their deaths are not related. Its just a basic plot trigger. If a certain character knows something that is to reveal the grand plot that character gets axed, some examples:

Eli and Dr. Breen knew about the G-Man more than anybody else, so they die.

In Full Metal Alchemist Hughes finds out about the truth abou the military, he dies.

In Star Wars Obi Wan Kenobi knows the truth about Vader, he dies.(Tho he comes back but as a ghost to help Luke, but beforer Luke finds the truth, old Ben just says "Use the Force" and "Go to swamp palnet and meet green guy".)

You know where I'm getting, if a secondary character knows about the major plot he most likely going to die. Usually the big twist is found out by the main characters alone or the main antagonist reveals to themselfs. You could say that Dr. Breen is the main antagonist of HL2..but...its not. He is just a puppet and the Combine the Puppet Masters. Puppets don't get to see the end of story.

SO Alyx won't die cause she knows about the G-Man cause she doesn't. Alyx will die so Valve doesn't have to explain what happened to her in Half Life 3. ^^

Excellent point. Ooh, Episode 3 needs to come NOW!

Although I will really cry if Alyx does end up dying. She's one of my favorite characters... ever, really.

Half-Life was innovative in it's day and it's still a fun game, it's just not as technically advanced as the FPS's of today.

What do you mean, Half-Life has been forgotten? Do you have any idea how often it's brought up on a day-to-day basis?
^This^

It's not forgotten. I swear, if it's not a thread about Halo(hating or loving it) then it's a thread about the Half-Life series. I'm generalizing of course but I think you get my point.
