The worst thing to ever happen to the Halo franchise was popularity. Now, every counter-culture gamer and is dog is easy to tear into it for non-existent transgressions. If Bungie didn't treat Halo 3 as an all-important finale, then we'd be hearing criticisms about how they didn't take it seriously.
