just goes to show you. the wii is stupid!!11!0ne

really though. I'm fine with fanboy battles, really, but I can't STAND it when people try to correlate 'sales' with quality, morality, or any other REAL positive. unless you are a shareholder or an employee, it's a non point.

remember, Britney Spears has sold more albums than many REAL Artists combined. lady gaga was breaking sales records... need I go on?

Edit:
I mean they Canceled Firefly ffs! due to its "lack of popularity" :'(

id believe it. PS3 still doesnt have that one title that everyone and their grandma has to have. o wells rather like the diversity of game genres on the PS3 rather than the FPS/TPS only xb360 XD

MGS4 isn't a firstparty title.

Most of the time when it chews up a disc it is because the 360 was moved while it was running it. And then you have to consider the odds of it being Halo 3 that was being played while it did it. And on top of that, the chance the person would go out and purchase it again.
I would imagine halo 3 is a widely purchased/played game on the 360 (given the article) so odds are, a good number of them were chewed up. And I most certainly think most of them would replace the disc. Probably more people than those who went out and bought another 360 when theirs bricked and I know there are many of them.

This is somewhat down to cherry picking of data, I mean he chooses not to include MGS4... why? Well because it sold 4.8 million copies which is half way there to Halo 3's 11 million copies sold. though he is right, comparing just exclusive titles Microsoft has the SINGLE GAME that sold the most.

One thing I would add is: Why is this a bad thing?

I'd say the reason Halo 3 has sold 11 million copies is pretty much because Microsoft has put all their eggs in once basket, it is arguably true that Xbox 360 just does not have as many exclusives as PS3. They just don't have as MANY First party Studios.

One has to ask:

"How does one game selling 11 million copies indicate the SINGLE copy a user owns is any better? how does that make the wider console library more valuable"

For me with my Xbox 360, you play Halo 3 and then what? Xbox 360 has NO OTHER first-person-shooter games that they can call exclusive (OK, ODST, but that's virtually a stand alone expansion pack but with nerfed armour and attacks). 3 years from Halo 3 to Halo Reach is a long time to wait, the only other shooter the console can claim is Crackdown and Gears 2 :(

OK, comparing just exclusives here, PS3 has more First Person Shooters:
Resistance (Fall of Man, 2) Killzone 2, with Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 on their way

They have more exclusive third-person shooter/platformers with:
Ratchet and Clank (Tools, Booty, Crack), Uncharted (Drake's Fortune, Among Thieves), Infamous, SOCOM Confrontation, MAG and Warhawk with Infamous 2 and SOCOM 4 (also maybe Uncharted 3) on the way.

Now I like my Xbox 360 and own a PS3 as well and sorry but looking at this objectively Xbox 360 just does not offer me as many games. Third party games like COD4 and GTA4 don't factor as you're better off getting them on PC. But for the multi-plat games that only see console releases I'll often prefer the PS3 version for the PSN's free online that I won't pay for any more and why should I pay for a service like Xbox Live which is infested with so many foul mouthed mic-abusers. It's worse than PS3 or PC or any other online. (yes I know PS3 may get a premium service, but it won't be necessary for online multiplayer)

Nobody does it like MS.

Really this isn't too surprising. Halo has a lot of rabid fanboys.
Also doesn't the 360 have a disc eating problem? There are probably a lot of people who had to buy it twice.

My Warhawk disc still works but if my ps3 decided to sandpaper it, I would probably buy it again.
Actually your right, if you move the xbox while it is on in the slightest you get a huge O around the edge of your game.

OT: Really though...i dont care...say what you want about Halo...but the thing is that it was so hyped that people bought it...I.M.O i prefer the P.S.3 a bit more then the XBOX cause i believe M.S is so stucked up its own a** that its starting to choke. Also heres the thing with the three consoles which makes me wanna choke someone; Xbox games are pretty, but have no personality, they mostly boil down to either Shooters or Adventure games. Wii games have personality but isnt really that pretty (with some exceptions). The PS3 on the other hand has personality and style, it has games for literally everyone, and even games aimed for younger children...like L.B.P...though even i play it...Im not saying the games on the PS3 is better then the other consoles, but im saying that the PS3 has a better standpoint then what XBOX has with its series that have huge numbers on the end (yes i know ps3 has some too, but they dont have as many). One thing i believe the ps3 shines in is exclusives...with the exception of S.C Conviction, the exclusives for the P.S.3 are alot more unqiue and tasteful...*goes back to playing Uncharted and Little Big Planet*
You?ll get no argument from me in that regard, however I do think that most of the really unique ps games this gen are those little downloadable titles like the pixel junks, echocrome, and last guy.
As for the big budget/hype exclusives, they (95% of the time) just don?t live up to the hype. And I?m talking about all the consoles. They?re pretty well balanced that way.
I just wish there was a superior console out there. Unfortunately there isn?t; they?re all overpriced and have really huge flaws.

In a game focused on multiplayer, which is what Halo is, a wider install base means more likelihood of finding an enjoyable match. Halo 3 is still the third most played game on Live, (according to Bungie's stat tracker, 472,000 people have played it online in the last 24 hours). Two and a half years after release, there are still half a million unique players a day on there, so even now it's still worth picking up for it's online game.

I had a problem with it, though it wasn't the disks, turned out my X-box forgot how to read disks...although i had it for about 4 to nearly 5 years so it was an old timer which had already been fixed once...i assumed it was the same 1. so i bought it about 4 times when really my x-box was to blame...glad i got the elite system now.

Anyways, not surprising really, Halo is a huge in the world of gaming, although i would like to see other Sony titles in this, like MGS4 and MAG...then i think they would have to include the whole Halo series...which would be pointless...

basically, im saying who gives a fuck =P
I too thought that was sneaky leaving out MGS4. Not so much mag; did a lot of people buy that?

I?m sorry to hear about your 360 getting Xheimers. The same thing used to happen with the fat ps2s I remember. I think that next gen MS should just license or contract out their hardware development & manufacturing to a competent electronics company like Phillips or Samsung.

I gotta say all of my fav's on the PS3 are cross-console, and half the time better on the xBox. The PS3 exclusives just aren't that great and tend to be more graphics demonstrations than games, with inFamous being the only title I really liked that made me glad I had a PS3--and even inFamous I had to warm up to.

But yeah when equating commercial success with superiority we need to bring in the Wii.

MGS4 isn't a firstparty title.
I don't see why that matters, it's an exclusive title, doesn't matter who developed it. Wasn't Bungie a 2nd party company with Microsoft at the time? (A company in contract with the bigger one). Though I could be completely and stupidly wrong on both situation and definition of 2nd-Party.

the reason it sells so much cause people have to buy multiple copies I'm on my 3rd i think. They break real easy in the 360 cause even if you move it a inch it just scratches the disk beyond anything playable
That's the case with any console. Not that I'm defending Halo here...I freaking hate that series. But try flipping a PS3 OR Wii upright while a disc is spinning in the tray and see what happens. You don't move your console while playing something. Simple as that.
Well, duh if you flip it its gonna cause problems. But just bumping the xbox sometimes kills disks.

The posturing isn?t for fan boys, it?s for investors and publishers. Showing that publishing an exclusive on the 360 will net you far more sales then doing the same on the PS3 is the message here.

Your opinions about quality mean little as people have been shown to buy highly marketed games over high quality niche titles. An innovative and original game is generally a poor match for a well marketed one with wider appeal and sales are king, nothing else.

For the record i have both PS3 and 360. Buy exclusives for both and generally get all multiplat games on the 360 as I like to keep my achievements and friends in one place.

1) If you'd read the rest of the thread you'd know thats not what I meant.
2) It's still not better than all those games combined. Not by a very long shot.

Well that is a question of personal taste. I for one can see why some 8-year old kids people could enjoy GoW III, but I am not one of them.

I was just pointing out that acording to reviews, Halo isn't exactly the McDonalds of gaming,
