I would like it to be released for PC so I could actually play the damn game Microsoft!.
Seriously, I love the Halo franchise, but I've only played the first two games, because they never bothered their asses to port the others to PC. Grrr.

So on to that, I REALLY hope that in Halo 4 they begin to start introducing Halo fans that haven't read the books, characters from the books. I always feel like there is all of these characters that should be in the Halo games, but almost like they vanish. It would be cool that in Halo 4, Master Chief at one point meets back up with Linda, Kelly, Fred, and some of the Spartan-III's.
I would be fine as long as 343 respects the established canon. After the plot hole ridden crapfest that was Halo:Reach, any respect shown to the books would be an improvement. When the story is so poorly placed together when even people who don't know the story can see them it's a bit ridiculous.

Whether or not Halo 4 will be good comes down to how good the story is. It wasn't the most original thing, but the thing that I loved about Halo:CE was how good the story was. Bungie lost it a bit in 2, brought it back a bit in 3, but as much as I enjoyed those games I always felt something in the single player was lacking. Whatever problems ODST might have, I did find the story fairly interesting, but of course bringing in what was essentially the cast of Firefly would help with that.

But I digress. If Halo 4 can tell a decent tale I could care less what the new weapons are or what have you. So few shooters try to put together an interesting story nowadays.
Heh, I'm actually the opposite. Never liked the books, prefer the way Reach did it. So if Halo 4 deviates massively from the books, I wouldn't care.

I'll probably get it. All I want out of it is a good singleplayer, really. If it can deliver, fine, I'll try the multi too. I just hope it hasn't become too COD-ified.

We don't know but the best guess is that it has something to do with the sangheili civil war that ONI helped start.

Pirates? Scavengers?

We won't know

WAIT! GUYS!

We all forgot about the Arbiter! He may play an important role in this, not hatred towards humans, but think about it!

For all we know, we could play as the Arbiter the same way we did in Halo 2!

But then they'd lose the only reason for anyone to buy an Xbox 360.

I'm not a Halo fan, but I reckon Microsoft will remake the game in a few years time anyway.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

God I would love to see that happen in the game but I highly doubt that it would happen. Kelly (Big surprise to anyone) out of all the Spartans is my favorite. She has an amazing personality, she's fast and she knows it.

I loved reading about her in the books and felt disappointed she was never presented in the games. John isn't bad, but after playing him for so long it gets tedious and they really don't show his soft side as they did in the books.

I am looking forward to seeing what Halo 4 will offer. I am as well as many others upset over the Covenant attacking due to the truce. Maybe it is a splinter group that does not agree to the truce much like there were human groups against the UNSC. After all from what we saw the Covenant are a faction made up of different species, some of them probably didn't agree to it, or some are still remaining loyal to the 'Journey'

Yeah seriously people getting upset over fighting the covenant arent thinking it through. It would be like going "Why is my character fighting Russians? America is at peace with Russia!" in a military game. The covenant races are not a hive mind.

Apparently they'll be giving the Chief an actual personality. Of this, I approve. I mean yeah he had a personality in the books, but it'll be great to finally see it in the games.

I also hope custom games/forge are just as great customization-wise as Reach.
Yeah I got the same thought!

I'm at the age now where games need more substance to them than just "run, gun, checkpoint". it's fantastic that Halo is evolving to match the depth I'm into now :D
Not only that, but Firefight has now adapted into a storylined, weekly mini series of missions and multiplayer (we've all gotta' do a bit of mindless shooting every now and then!) even has some back story to it now!

Well it's not like firefight, it's like the SP, you go through a level. Not just a wave of enemies with a story.

Will they allow custom maps and such? I remember Halo 3 jenga. That was legitimately the most fun I ever had with my xbox.
Man I remember playing jenga on Halo 3, always a great time.

I hope that there is a sort of Annual style achievement to go after. Trying to achieve that with three friends late at night was a fantastic time. Even after I finally had the achievement I would gather a group and we'd do it again just for the challenge.

Well, I am just unashamedly excited for more Halo in general (so sue me).

But specifically, I'm pretty excited to see the new enemies. Much as I love 'em, it'll be nice to get away from Covenant/Flood from time to time. Plus they look badass.

Looking forward to the Campaign and "Spartan Ops" (That name is lame if you ask me)

I'm trying to understand why we are fighting the Covenant still. Wasn't that the story behind Halo 3? That Humans and Aliens can live in Peace?

Also the Elites are our Allies, so why are we shooting them?
There are a lot of covenant out there, their empire is huge and there are trillions of them. This could be a Covenant holdout who refuses to accept the peace. Maybe they are terrorists?
Actually, the Elites were, after the war, debating on their homeplanet whether they should attack the humans while their guard is down or go for peace with them. The Arbiter is trying to advocate peace while acting and another Elite is trying to restart the Covenant and wage war on the humans.

Well, the vast majority of the Covenant followed the ideal of the Great Journey with unflinching zeal for thousands of years. The pursuit of it became the cornerstone that held together their entire culture. I don't think it would be too hard to swallow for the explanation to simply be 'There are still factions of the Covenant who still believe in the old doctrine'. I mean, when the pursuit of a promised salvation has been your entire life's work, as well as your father's life, and his father's and so on, and then suddenly you're forced to confront that it was all a lie, it's understandable why some might prefer denial.

OP: Looking forward to the heavier focus on The Chief and Cortana, and finding out more about the Forerunners (and possibly other species that lived alongside/before them).

Well the two other major species that lived alongside were Humanity and the San'Shyuum (Prophets) whom at this time were actually allies, but then the San'Shyuum backed out during the Human-Forerunner war, and left Humanity to fight the Forerunners, and lost.

It kinda looks like they're taking cues from metroid prime, with the differant visor modes and some of the enemy designs, which can only be a good thing.

Yeah I know, but will they really make 5 independent missions, every week, for 14 weeks? They will more-than likely do 1-2 new maps a week and just change out the objectives for each mission, with it playing a bit like a hybrid of linear mission play and Firefight.

EDIT: Which is still awesome, nonetheless.

What book is this from? I never heard anything about a Human-Forerunner war.
