Bungie did say there wouldn't be a Halo 4 and the tag line "Finish the fight" would be rather pointless if the fight wasn't finished. What i could see them doing is branching off with other things in the Halo universe, be it marines, elites, Spartan 3's or the remaining Spartan 2's
I thought Bungie were tired of whacking the Halo franchises, or maybe Microsoft have a mind control device or something...
Yeah but most of Bungie's current audience have no idea about Bungie's past, they won't know of the Marathon series, I reckon Bungie will play it safe and make another Halo game, I'm sure of it. I'd love to be wrong though.J'aen said:

Also i did some seaching online about the futur of the halo series and there are rumors about an episodic series called halo cronicals, which is supposed to play like an interactive movie or something. there was supposed to be anouncements on this subject at E3, but was canceled because of an argument between bungie and microsoft.

If you watch the end credits when you finished on legendary, you can see the Maser Chief floating in the wreckage of the space ship. He has a conversation with cortana and you see that they are floating towards another planet...

There could be a Halo 4, but there wouldnt be much Covenant in it, because they could still add stuff about the Forerunners. If you read the books, it seems most likely that at the end, the planet hes floating towards is the planet that the rest of the Spartan IIs are inside. Personally I'd most like to see a game set before first contact with Covenant, with the Spartan IIs taking on the rebellion in a stealth based game, which is how the Spartans are supposed to fight. Or possibly just a squad based game set around the Marines, either against the Covenant or the "Innies". Just my thoughts though.

Bungie say they still have ideas for storylines. But it won't be "Halo 4." More like a spin off.
The only reason Microsoft/Bungie would do Halo 4 is for the money, so it's likely. However, it definitely should not be done. Franchises which close (like Halo did) and then are re-opened instantly become crap, and are bought probably by people hoping it'll be as good as the originals, going entirely on brand, or fanboys.

As has been mentioned above, it's unlikely in the extreme that we'll see Master Chief and Cortana come back to our Xbox's to resolve the mystery of what planet they were drifting towards. What is much more likely is that another story in the Haloverse will be made into a videogame, which I see as a great thing, considering how much more to Halo there is than just Master Chief and the Arbiter.
So everyone agrees there will be no Halo 4...right? Their is an RTS game for Halo (Halo wars) and I suppose an prequel or spin-off wouldn't be uncalled for...
