Being made by fans is exactly why it could be worthy.
No it's not, eating good food does not make you a cook and it doesn't make you a good cook by a long shot.

The depression part I understand, with franchises new ideas don't really fly, if you want to imagine it in your line of work it's as if your boss told you everything you do / make is useless and needs to be redone, all sense of achievement and progress gone... it's not long until you just come in for work and wait for the clock to run down.
Everyone is prone to depression only question is howmuch of a beating he can take before it get's there.

Since he is new to the Halo franchise I'm guessing he was too radical and MS does not want their cash cow to go sour on them, and not in the very least when there are 3 games in the pipes.

Fine, if you want to use that analogy, think of it this way- these people that are big fans of this good food also know how to cook, and they're also working to prepare this meal with some of the original cooks.

Which is fact.

I think it was just being unhappy with his job. People who have good jobs, like the jobs, or they wouldn't do them (unless you make lotsa moneys). If you having a concept of creation colliding so severely with your ideas and imagination, at the point where it's no fun no more. Would you like that?

I think that's what did it. If you don't want to work on the piece of rubbish you are served, and have options to choose something you like, why not take the good option?
Also, the halo real series (not reach or the rts) should have stopped at 3 already. The milking has gone too far, halo 4? really?
Honestly Halo really hasn't been milked... Compared to other franchies, it doesn't have that many games. 8 games if you consider Halo Anniversity.

Halo is imo one of the last games I would considered being milked. Now there is two that has been... for a long time now... *cough*Mario,Zelda*Cough*
Those have just been bled dry. the udder was a sad little heap of flabby empty tissue.
I still think Halo was milked. after 3, maybe four games it was enough. BUT NOOOOOO ALWAYS MORE. *ahem*
Thing is though... Halo 4... Was hinted in the legendary ending of Halo 3... Originally Reach was supposed to be 4, but they decided to do a prequel rather then a sequel.

So this sequel didn't come out of no where. It was always going to come one way or another.

Also considering this won't be a rehash of the same storyline (plus, it won't be a cheap cash in since it's been in production since 2008, so when it releases winter 2012, it will have had an almost 4 year production. Which is longer then most productions no in days.) it won't really be milking.

The Halo Universe is big, this time we may (though doubtful) fight the flood again, that seems very unlikely. From the concept art trailer, there is a really real chance we will be fighting the Forrunners or Precursors (creators of the flood.)

Which considering their level of advancement compared to the Convenant, and the UNSC. We will probably be seeing a whole new range of weapons and things you can do. Honestly Halo 4 has a lot of creative freedom to go along with it.

Great. So Halo 4 is so creatively bankrupt that the Creative Director was actually diagnosed with depression and quit. Wonderful.

And I was actually looking forward to this game (admittedly with quite a bit of denial involved) until I read this. That's pretty telling evidence, at least for a game like this.

Of course, the other way to read it is that his vision for the game really was some crazy bullshit that would have sucked.

That last sentence, from the looks of things, is what's going on.

He was taking it TOO far from Halo's roots. It isn't creatively bankrupt. His vision was just drastically different then the rest of the team.

And the depression had to have already been there. The clash in ideals was just the catalyst that brought it to the forefront.

It's much easier being told what to do than having to choose. =/

Meh, all luck to him. I didn't even know Halo had a creative director.

That's a shame, a crazy creative director could breathed new life into the series for a new trilogy.

I am fine with the universe, but I am done with master Chef. Just bring him up as a father, and have Master son do all this shit or something.

Ummmm, it doesn't say that he was depressed because he couldn't get his own way. Believe it or not, depression doesn't just occur because of one thing, it takes several other factors as well to build up to cause severe depression like this. Chances are he had other problems in his life, that we don't know about because they aren't mentioned, that helped cause depression, and he felt that it would help if he changed his life in several ways, including leaving the company he worked for to start his own.

Also, bear in mind that working in the gaming industry isn't easy at all. I should know, I'm aspiring to get into the industry myself, and I'm working on an indie project too, and everything I've seen and heard about the industry is that it's much, much tougher, with longer hours and more exhaustion on the whole, than most other industries. Thus it's not really surprising he was driven to depression in such circumstances...
