'Halo 5 may be the title of next Halo Reclaimer Trilogy game' says Polygon journalist

Polygon said:
The title for the next installment of Halo's Reclaimer Trilogy may be Halo 5, according to the next-gen game's updated reveal trailer by production company Axis Animation.

The game's reveal trailer, released during E3, was created by Axis Animation and the latest version (below) shared by the UK-based studio now features "Halo 5" appearing at its conclusion.
For those of you who aren't familiar, Halo is a videogame.

But not only that! Halo is many videogames and now with brave investigative journalism at it's finalist[sic] a 'Halo 4' has been found to exist and the now rumoured title of it's previously announced sequel, may well indeed be 'Halo 5'. Possibly a miscount of the number of letters in Halo, or possibly, according to some theories it may well symbolise the next Halo's chronological franchise position in relation to Halo 4.

These rumours developed after the 'trailer' of the game ended with the words 'Halo 5'

Luckily for those questioning the validity of this information
Polygon has reached out to Microsoft to confirm the game's title.

Polygon: Only the finest in video games journalism.

They're quickly reaching the same level as Kotaku and IGN in my eyes... but, I suppose considering those two websites are also two of the biggest video game-related websites around, maybe that's what they're aiming for?

Damn, I put all my money on the next Halo being called the Halo One, to mirror Microsoft's excellent naming technique.

My pride in coming up with that joke has been somewhat diminished by reading the comments of the actual article and finding someone else came up with the same joke as well (although I had already written my version down so suck it.)
There was also a confused Nathan Fillion gif, which makes up for it.

I actually think Polygon are pretty good for the news articles and features (For the low standards of any gaming news site at least), if you look at the reporting for the latest controversies, particular the FEZ thing, then Polygon was way much less sensationalist and well balanced than even this site say.

I have no idea what they were thinking with this article though. It's like they were so busy going through the journalism checklist (yes I've sourced, yes I remembered to contact the publisher involved) they forgot to realise they were talking absolute crud.

Part of me wishes that Microsoft had gone with Halo One as suggested above though =D

EDIT: Actually thinking about it, it's Polygon's attempts to do news journalism decently thats making this so stupid. On the Escapist personal opinion and editorialising and generally a light tone is encouraged right, whereas Polygon are trying a facts only detached style, so on an escapist version of the article it would be full of 'surprising nobody' types of comments and making it clear that a sane functioning human being is writing the article.

So...the game that comes after Halo 4 is Halo 5?

I guess I didn't realize that this wasn't already the assumption. o_O

And here I was, completely convinced it was going to be called Haloer, then the next one Haloest: the Haloing[footnote]After that come Live Free Or Halo and A Good Day To Halo.[/footnote]

This really was an eye-opener.

Well, don't I feel like an idiot now for betting that it would be Halo 8 that followed Halo 4. Top notch journalism, Polygon.

What a stunning revelation (another possible title =P)

No shit!?

I was waiting for an overused subtitle like Halo :Reloaded, Halo: Revolution, or Halo: Resurrection. Typically a franchise that has been beaten to death, like the Halo franchise, starts getting those subtitles.

Well since the trailer had Master Chief in it and only side-stories that don't involve him as the protagonist (or the HD remake) have non-numbered titles I'm pretty certain this is true.

You know what would have made this article better? The writer making snide remarks about the title being obvious. Then it's real journalism!

I'm saddened that it isn't called Halo: The exciting adventures of Master Chief part 2.

Yeah, you and me both. I though it would be named Halo e or maybe Halo π, but somehow there is the conclusion that 5 comes after 4. I am shocked.

Journalism at it's finest. I highly doubt it would've been called Halo 4.7 or something.

I think we should all propose a subtitle for this game, to add some actual content to this story.

How about Halo 5: You know we could be making a Crimson Skies game with this money.

I noticed that the supposed trilogy is now a saga, apparently. I think Halo's gameplay isn't too shabby for a console shooter but the story is absolute bunk and I really don't understand people who hold it in any high regard whatsoever. Did anyone also see the recent comments by a 343 representative who said they want to make the series sit on a shelf alongside Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter as many do already? Crazy talk, it's not even close to Rowling's work, never mind the former with it's insanely detailed language alone.

Halo 5: We WILL Milk This Forever, Get It?

Halo 5: Thank God You're All Suckers, Okay I'll Stop

Halo 5: Because Literally Printing Money is Still Illegal

Halo 5: Everyone Legally Old Enough to Play the Original Halo When it Came Out is Now in Their Thirties or Older, Holy Shit. A Significant Portion of the People Who Will Buy this Game at Launch Weren't Even Alive then.

Halo 5: You Might as Well Just Preorder Halos 6 - 10 While You're at It

Halo 5: Finish The Fight, Some More

Halo 5: At the End of this One You Get to See Master Chief's Nose

Halo 5: Not to be Confused With Broken (If you get this, you're awesome)

The game isn't even about Halo rings any more, the title has become pretty redundant.

That's what I want from my Halo games, ladies and gentlemen: I want actual Halo rings, because they were the third most interesting part of the game (the first being soundtrack, the second being the Covenant, and the fourth being weaponry. And notice how the top three have been changed rather a lot).
