So, I was wondering if it was just me or is anyone else kind of happy to see Halo end as a series? I mean, Bungie (Who I think is kinda cool) can actually move on to create a new better series. I mean Halo had its moments, but seriously its kinda been needing to end for a while now. The series hadn't had anything really new introduced since Halo 2, and now Reach can allow the series to actually go out in what looks to be something of style.

Does anyone else agree with me here?

Part of me is happy to see a final definitive Halo as the final curtain for the series at least as far as Bungie is concerned but at the same time another part of me is a little saddened to see it go. It's like reading the last Winnie the Pooh book or the end of Toy Story 3, it's going to signify the end of an age for me and that can be a little upsetting.

Well, Halo 1 and 2 were great in my opinion. Halo 3 was ok, but im not the type to play MP modes for periods longer than one week, but i cant say it was Bad.
ODST was good, but overpriced etc;
And Reach just feels like a final yell at getting some more money out of the franchise before idolising their singular moment of glory before they try to recreate it with a new series.

Yeah, you are kind of right there. I do think it is weird that Master Chief, the famous main character of the whole flipping series, is not going to be in this. I mean he was the guy but apparently they ran out of things for him to murder in Halo 3.

Halo isn't really ending since there's a cliff hanger that 343 Studios can pick up from when they feel like it. Bungie just isn't gonna work on the Halo games anymore. I can think of my games series that probably should've ended (COD). I mean, if you're complaining a series went to make 5 games, you should get use to it. GH produced more games in 3 years than Halo in 10. I think series should end when they naturally would. I don't care if they make 1 game or 20, as long as I enjoy, since that is the point of gaming... ALOT of people forget that.

Well, halo is a cancer that needs to die, and bungie could really do some cool stuff other than halo:24 or Captain bland's monotonos adventure....
Really? Why is Halo a cancer besides it's bland. I could think of a lot of other games that are worse then Halo.

Reach is Bungies final Halo Hurrah, and I have a feeling that they will not be messing it up anytime soon.
Yea, I think that reach will be great, and a great finishing game for the HAlo series. Even though saying goodbye to the Halo series might be kinda hard with so many players, Bungie can now move on to more things and more games.

I think it's good that they're ending it now, because people would get mad at them if they didn't. That said, the next game or series they make probably won't be nearly as successful.

You said exactly what I was thinking.

I would really like to see more of the Halo universe, and I guess we can have that with novels. Though I would have also liked to see what possible games could have been made with the universe as a whole. Explore other aspects and see what the Halo universe can give.

Now all we need is for Call of Duty to finish (after MW3 since its already in pre-production) and open the floodgates of innovation.

I love the Halo franchise. And while the story was lame and Halo fanboys are among the worst kinds of infection, what it brought to consoles as a whole has to be commemorated. It gave console gaming enthusiasts a staple in control, content and quality that wasn't found in FPS games of the time.

It showed the naysayers that FPS could function well on a console, and its sales drove another stake into the heart of FPS purists. It and Call of Duty 4 showed promise for the future of FPS on consoles.

..and that's not to say that Microsoft won't milk the cow dry once Bungie births its last Halo installment. It has very few first party offerings to speak of, and you better believe this won't be the last game with 'Halo' in the title.

EDIT: Reach is also the reason why I'm finally caving and getting a 360. Haven't purchase a Halo game for myself since 2.

Well you do have me there. And in truth that may be why I kind of like this series to end. I like Bungie and think that they really listen to the fans and have a lot of talent. Thats cool. I haven't liked a Halo game since Halo 2. Reach sounds like it will be decent, but all in all it feels like they just keep upgrading the game slightly with each new installment without too much towards actual innovation. I mean their goal for Reach is just to "make it play a lot more like the first Halo game". I mean, if the developer says that the game was at its best when it first came out, then why continue. They already made a great one. I just want to see what Bungie does next, and hope that it's pretty cool.

It's not ending. So long as it sells, they will keep making more spin offs, even if they say the series is "done". Look forward to Halo: OESTD next summer.

Halo isn't getting a Halo, and won't be seeing one for a long time either. 343 Industries, put together by Microsoft will be creating new Halo games after Bungie moves on.

It's not ending.
Bungie isn't making any more after reach and microsoft isn't going to let their biggest money making game say 'bye, bye' that easily. They'll hire someone new to make 'em.

I have no opinion either way. Let it live, let it die... couldn't care less as long as their making good games.

I don't think MC is the main character but rather humanity as a whole is. If we replaced him with a character like Nathan Drake, lets say, we probably would be dealing with a character where his personal life would interfere with the main focus of the story. I wouldn't want that since Halo's story is suppose to be survival from a eradication from an alien onslaught. The reason we have a "faceless" protagonist is so we don't get caught up with "omg she hates him now" but experience "omg we're all gonna die". I like my character development, but only in stories where they're appropriate.

It won't end. Trust me.

Even if Bungie says that they're not making Halo games anymore (which I doubt they actually will)then Microsoft will milk that shit till' it's bone dry, then grind it up into a fine powder, mix it with water and serve it in a stew.

So I don't think Halo is going to end any time soon. Is the point that I'm trying to get across.
