Halo won't end with Reach, Microsoft are already hiring for a new, Non-Bungie, Halo game. Personally, I liked the Halo series. I began playing from the very beginning and still enjoy all games ten years on. But I, like you, believe the series should see its end.

It should have freaking ended with Halo 3, so then I could have a good final oppinion of it. Now we've got a boring RTS game, another FPS just like the 3rd except sheilds don't recharge, and an upcoming prequel. Who ends a series with a freaking prequel?
George Lucas.
Wait that's a very bad example
errrr.
Technically back to the future did :)

anyway, it's nice of bungie not to milk it to death, wether 343 industries will or not time will tell. And I think it's a pretty nice way to end their time developing it by coming round full circle in respect to timelines.

Well, halo is a cancer that needs to die, and bungie could really do some cool stuff other than halo:24 or Captain bland's monotonos adventure....
Dear sir/madam, please see penny arcade's G.I.F Theory for reasons as to why those indifferent on Halo will hate you for your post. Constructive critisim is good, calling something Cancer is just Godwin's law in a shiny bowtie.

I've played 1, 2, and 3. Halo CE was the only one I ever got into, oh nostalgia and the fun lan parties.
QFT. I still play it.

It's nice to see that a big developer will be able to make a new IP on multiple platforms.

I remember in my computer class everyone loading up the CE demo and having a class wide lan match on blood gulch.

eh, I know little about 343 Studios, but apparently some of the people from Bungie have gone to work for them, so there is some hope, but honestly, Reach is going to tie up any loose ends the series had left, and it may very well be my last Halo.

Ofcourse, it also looks like a pretty high-note for Bungie's Halo to end on. It's been one of my favorite series of this past decade, and so far it has yet to disappoint. Eagerly awaiting Reach, but so far, my thoughts are that this will be my last Halo.

Halo was a *decent* series, not great but catchy enough that most people could enjoy it. It needs a rest, and if someone else down the line picks up the cliffhanger ends, hopefully they create a game worth a damn out of it. Never really been a Halo junkie, though I do like the books that correspond with it. Nylund wrote some good material using the Halo storyline though I didn't much like the other writers, and the game was interesting enough to make me play 1-3 (ODST didn't catch my interest, but the Sgt. Johnson commercial was worth a laugh).
Red vs. Blue wouldn't have happened without Halo, so my props to that.
But like everything else in life, too much kills and I think Halo has run its course for now.
Wish other companies would get the hint and retire some series or go back and remake others that would be super-awesome on next-gen consoles.

This isn't the end of Halo. This is the end of bungie making halo. Microsoft and 343 studios aren't gonna just sit on the gient cash cow that is the halo name.

That said, the next game or series they make probably won't be nearly as successful.
That's exactly what I think too. I feel like a lot of the mainstream people who play Halo probably aren't even aware that Bungie is the company that makes it.

I'm pretty sad honestly, was my first xbox game and when I finally got my 360 Halo 3 (And Fable 2) were my first games. Was fun playing single player and awesome playing multiplayer with friends, the online could've been better though but meh. Really hoping they make more though, not like Star Wars outrageous way of pulling every type of game and somehow relating it to Star Wars but I wouldn't mind another Halo Wars or a game about a different character than a spartan (ODST like) or even on where you're the covenant! But yea, i'm pretty sad.

this is not the end of halo. Its the end of bungies halo. Because MS would never let this series end, since it made MS who it is today in the gaming market.

*shrug* Halo 1 was the only one i really thought had any real thought put into it, the rest were all pretty much just level packs with updated graphics.

Glad to see they've got the sense to be letting it go, but i don't think they didn't already milk it quite a bit.

It would be nice to see the series end gracefully, but seeing as how Frat boys and squeaky-voiced preteens will keep throwing money at them in exchange for anything with the Master Chief on it, I don't think it will happen

so many people hate halo as a franchise, without playing any of the games. why? how does the fact this series keeps going hurt you? it doesnt, so please stop whining
im mostly aiming this at you

quoting yahtzee does not make you cool
and to be fair, they are not usually monotonous. 1 was the start a genre, 2 improved multiplayer, 3 was a bit samey, wars was an RTS, ODST involved a completely different angle on the FPS, and reach is probably going to have the same problems as 3, but at least theyve overhauled some stuff
why does it need to die? is the presence of boxes with 'halo' on shelves hurting you? and buy the way? my grandmother died of cancer. i dont think she was killed by halo.

OT: just because bungie is leaving, doesnt mean that the series will end

Eh, reach doesn't fell very samey to me. They overhauled the hell out of it. It's more like a Halo 3 without things from Halo 2. Not to say Halo 2 was bad, it was simply a much different game.

Well I agree with you. Too many people yell at Halo for being the mother of all evil. It's nice to see someone making a stand. *salutes*

Same. Nothing like finding a good team CTF on Blood gulch. Anyone else happy that they're giving Halo PC players something in Reach?

Poor poor Halo. It's like the Terri Schiavo of the gaming industry.

At least it's finally being put out of it's misery.

I'm a bit sad about the beloved Halo series ending. (The first video game I ever played was Halo 2) I'm glad they decided to end it rather than milking it more, though. I'm sure Microsoft is going to want to milk it dry, but I'm glad Bungie's not going to. I'd rather have the series end than have the games become shit. It's bittersweet.

Remember Reach

at ease soldier.

im not even that much of a halo fan, but i guess that makes me an impartial observer. i like the fps genre, and i think that halo did a bit right, and very little wrong. and their fanboys see actual daylight - im looking at you, warcraft and MW2. well, i would be, but i cant see you in the perpetual darkness your fanboys live in. i like those as well, but i dont think im a fanboy to anything, apart from Freedom fighters, of which only one was made. maybe with the release of K&L:DD, IO interactive will overcome their crippling fear of originality and depth and make a second one. although, they will probably sell out to graphics and reliably unimaginative storytelling. in FF, you could make life easier by knocking out helicopters, but for that you had to steal explosives from the nearby armoury, and maybe rescue prisoners while there, or just hit the objective. your character has actual emotional investment in the war as well, which is much better than turning point, where my character was only involved because i told him to be
wow this was a long rant about nothing
