If the Master Chief fell at Reach, all hope would be inevitably lost.

There was no reason for him to do so, when Noble Six was still alive and fighting the brutal end.
They still have Sargent Johnson
Sergeant Johnson wasn't a Spartan. Major difference maker.
It doesn't matter Sargent Johnson could destroy the covenant with his invincibility and mythical lazer vision.

Not suggesting a "actually not dead" thing (Noble 6 is very dead) but you dont ever see any actual hits on them. They never show any Elite landing a hit with the sword.
While it's fading out an elite's leg blocks a sword blow and the other elites activate their energy swords.

It was, for lack of a better word, noble, they did noble 6's death very well, and made him go out like the badass that he is, and i started to feel really sad once my helmet started to crack, it was like saying "Hey, its time to rest."

and maybe the "legendary" Ending is you kill everything and walk away, who knows.

I thought the ending was pretty great. To be honest, I'm pretty sure everyone who keeps up with halo canon knew how the game was going to end. And the fact is, Six takes down 5 elites before dying, and that's something.

Also, I'm still confused by kat's death. She gets hit. By a needle. From a needle rifle. How the heck does that kill a fully shielded spartan? I doubt her shields were taken out by the explosion beforehand. There aren't any covy snipers in Reach anyways, so it can't have been that. And no, I do not believe the focus rifle is a sniper.

Ill just paste what I posted in a similar thread.

I was actually pretty surprised by it. I think everyone that says Reach has a crap story is missing the point. The story itself is incredibly simple, there's nothing particularly special about it, but there doesn't need to be. What Reach excels at (actually, I think Halo in general does this well) is creating an amazing atmosphere. The music and the art direction are both absolutely fantastic, they're so melancholy and they manage to bring the planet and characters to life.

Especially the level after the credits. That was absolutely masterful. you're alone for the first time in the game, surrounded by Covenant and just given the objective; 'Survive'. At first I was excited, preparing to make the fuckers pay, and pay hard. But after a few minutes I just lost the will for it. The team is dead, the planet is broken, I'm possibly the last remaining piece of resistance on the planet. The environment is covered in thick fog, and you can see countless Covenant moving within it, as well as dropships circling overhead. The cracks started appearing in my visor and I just thought 'what's the point?' It's not going to achieve anything, we've lost. So I just charged at the nearest Elite, took him down with a left hook and then gave in. It was absolutely fantastic, and yet so simple.
Yes, yes, yes absolutely. This really was the missing link that brought the whole story together.

What happened to Jun is he alive, because I thought Masterchief was the only who was definitely alive. (rest are dead or a few are MIA)
didn't he die in that pelican that was with captain keyes.

Oh yeah by the way you can see master chief in the cutscene after you blow up the capital ship with the mac cannon just hold right on your right stick there is a solid 3 second of looking at chief in his cryo tube

Right off of the wikia my friend

Jun's current status is unknown, as he was not seen after Noble Team's departure of Sword Base. He was last seen escorting Dr. Halsey away from Sword Base. According to the Halo: Reach Legendary Edition Developer Commentary, Jun is still alive.

I liked the ending but i actually expected the game it's self to be a little more brutal. I mean yeah the game gets brutal but i didn't really feel that sense of loss and crushing opression until the last two levels of the game.

That being said this is a much better game than Halo 3 i haven't played ODST yet but i can say that i like this game even more than Halo 2 (my previous fav)

From what I've read in the books their shields aren't always active, and it's possible she had shut them down after the mission.

He wasn't, he got picked up after the autumn left the surface. If the books still ring true to anything.

OT- Hell, After seeing that end, i felt such an emotional impact.
Really, you complete your objectives after fighting such a hard battle, to realise that you are alone, in the middle of a field of death, with the enemies closing in the fog.

When the "chapter" name "there'll be another time" came up, it just hit home so well.
Especially with the objectives screen saying "-spartans never die.." on the pause menu.

It is really cool how they use the motion blur too, after a while its gets greater and greater, like a loss of blood.
Its quite hard to notice at first with the normal motion blur..
But after a while it becomes quite obvious.

I really enjoyed it. At first when the mission objective came up saying "Survive" I assumed I was facing a wave attack style scenario and I had to survive a set number of waves until the ending cutscene. But when my shields dropped and I took my first point of health damage (cracking my visor), I immediately knew that I wasn't meant to "Survive", I was meant to "Take as many of them with as you can". Accordingly I immediately shouldered my plasma rifle, drew my faithful pistol and then ran out into the open, forsaking all cover in favour of my very own version of the Charge of the Light Brigade.

Needless to say I was happy with the ending.

It was a great ending. It left me with a feeling of emptiness seeing Noble 6 die, which was the intent.

I think it was probely the most emotional scene in any game I can think of.
except possibly Kats death.
